The stems seem fairly strong, and the dirt is new. The top dirt is slightly moist, but the dirt under is dry. There are two drain holes on the bottom of the container. Earlier (like maybe a week ago) I had set it out in full sun, like the label said, and it really hurt it. I may try half sun in a certain spot outside, but I live in a hot, dry desert so im not sure if that will do it worse or good. Additionally, the stems are not rotted. And thank you for responding, i dont wanna give up on this little one!!

They don't need much water at all, so better draining (more gritty) mix would be better. I believe that your plant is getting too much water - even if you don't think so. Succulents store water and their natural habitat is warm and quite dry. I believe that you will see improvement if you use that kind of potting mix. This is plant that should branch and grow longer stems, but they should be still little more sturdy.

If you put it outside, do it gradually - if you put plant in full sun suddenly, it will most likely burn. In your locale it may be good idea to shade it little from strongest sun (usually around noon) - like putting more dense/taller plant in front of it or where there is dappled shade at that time of day.

If you prefer all green leaves, keep it in less sun. Either way it is nice plant. It could be planted in ground and overwinter outside if you don't get freezes.

Your local climate is much different from mine. And also, I don't grow my plants indoors since I am lucky enough to have good weather all year long for my succulents here in SW Florida. But I'll give you my experience with this plant.

It rots easily! Now I do have humid and in the summer, wet weather. This is not what you have. I am on my 3rd Campfire plant. Here is a picture of my first rotting plant. Notice how rich and dark the soil is! It retained too much water.

Here's a closeup - every stem and rosette that I cut was slimy and falling apart. This happened rather quickly, by the way, in spite of being in full sun.

Thanks so much! I think I'll end up putting mine outside in half sun so it can get what it needs, and I may change out the soil if things get too bleak. So far it hasn't been too bad in using the water/rotting so I think that part is alright.

I think Crenda gave you excellent advice from personal experience - the plant will rot easily.

If you want to keep it, why to take chance and "and I may change out the soil if things get too bleak" - pls. don't take this wrong way, I am not trying to be mean. But you have this plant for only a short while. Crenda is very experienced grower and has many beautiful plants. She already lost few of these simply before her climate is not so favorable for this plant - not because she is doing everything incorrect. If she says to give it well-draining soil I would do it immediately. Yes, your plant will live - for a while - and before you know it, it will just die. If it is kept in too wet soil, it will just get weaker and weaker, even if it may take a while since you are in dryer climate. As plant gets too weak, it may succumb to other diseases/infections/bugs much easier. As I suggested, it doesn't look the way it should (I am not talking about color here).

I hope you read all of this as it is meant - advice as you asked for.
