Could you help identify my succulents?
Comments (2)1. Alworthia’Black Gem’ 2. Most likely Kalanchoe luciae, but there’s also Kalanchoe thyrsiflora that looks pretty much identical. The flowers are different, on luciae the little flowers are white, while on thyrsiflora they are yellow. I say it’s most likely it’s luciae because supposedly thyrsiflora is less common in cultivation....See MoreHelp with identifying succulent & how to propagate pup
Comments (3)I believe that's a Gasteria, possibly a Caranata veracosa (I probably spelled that incorrectly). These generally "pup" easily, although I haven't seen one growing from a stem like that. Usually they grow up near the mother plant. (In fact, it looks like you may have a pup or two near the base of the mother plant, at least in that photo.) If it were mine, I would cut that stem/pup off and plant it in the same pot, maybe with about a half-inch to an inch of stem. Let it dry overnight or for a day before doing so. You don't want an open stem to rot. I would also give the entire plant new soil with much more "inorganic" material for better drainage....maybe pumice if you can easily get it, or sifted/washed perlite. I grow about 12 different varieties of Gasteria -- it's my favorite plant. They don't need or like direct sun, but do well in bright shaded light. You might try a 50/50 soil / perlite blend. Like all succulents, they don't like to be overwatered....See MoreNeed Help Identifying Succulent.
Comments (7)I believe there are few cultivars that are very similar. There is Hercules; there is Orion that is supposedly closest to it; there is Apus - and probably more very similar cv (Lisa mentioned Esther which I couldn't find much info about). Differences between them are sometimes very slight. And many bloom same color. I have one that I thought was Apus, but apparently it has fewer blooming stems, and mine has 4 growing right now - it bloomed number of times, but not 4 inflos until now: So I sort of give up on exact ID, since difference may be exact color and size of the leaves and that could change according to growing conditions. It has been very blue-green (less light) and more colorful (better light). Hercules is supposedly also bit smaller. That could also change because of growing conditions....See MoreHelp identifying succulents?
Comments (3)The first guy looks like a pot full of baby Graptopetalum paraguayense aka ghost plant. The second pic not sure, but you can treat exactly the same lots of light, fast draining mix amended with pumice and or perlite, and water when dry....See Morerina_Ontario,Canada 5a
