My son and his wife are about 19 weeks pregnant and I have only been able to tell the people I see on a regular basis. I am overjoyed to be a first-time grandparent and would love to be able to share the news with everyone I know on my Facebook page, but they don't want it on there. I am respecting their wishes, but it's frustrating. Soooooo... I will tell all of you - I AM GOING TO BE A GRANDMOTHER FOR THE FIRST TIME!! Baby's due in January. I'm trying to decide on what I want the little sweet baby to call me.

Do you know that a photo on the net can be traced to the place it was taken. Some pedophile may see it and want that baby badly. Some weirdo who wants you can come within a block of your home without the photo. You post on the internet that you are going to work and will be back 5 pm, you come home and find your home robbed and ransacked. We had a serial killer in our town and when he was convicted they even denied him magazines because he could get his jollies by doing things to the photos of babies and women. Some of these I learned on this site many years ago, we may be safer now if we are computer literate. Someone posted on this site no one knew who he was, he could post what he wanted. One of the techy people came back with part of his name and address, just enough to show him how wrong he was. The parents of your grandchild are very smart parents.

So you have no other way of interacting with your friends than Facebook? I think your son and his wife's request is valid. I find it sad that Facebook has become the default "info updater". Call your friends!

Oh - and sincere congratulations on your impending grandparenthood!!!

Thanks, Suzie. I do understand and respect their wishes. It's just that I work from home and don't run into people like I used to... I also feel it is important to let my son and his wife call the shots when it comes to their baby. I am just so darned excited!!! :)

Right, Susan. It is too big. Susan, When I first signed up on FB it was only to keep in touch with nieces and nephews who are now living in many areas: N, S, E, W. We have exchanged pics of grands, etc., and that has worked fine and now that I am reaching 90, that means they are aging also and sadly two have passed on. I thought it was time to at least give them a recent picture of their old, getting decrepit, Aunt, and use it as a Profile pic. I should have just used this one. Sue

Gulp. I don't think I ever left the 90's, LOL! I'd be very happy in many of those rooms. Some of them seem much more comfortable to me than the current trends. I just can't embrace the ikat, zigzag, etc trends that are going strong right now. Skirted table? I've got one of those too. I figure it was very inexpensive, and a good place holder until I find something I like better. And it hides a large, unsightly toy or two under it's skirt. :-) 3 of the rooms in our house had the faux walls when we bought it. I've repainted one of the rooms a solid pale blue (still love pastels) and it feels sooo much better. I'm looking forward to the day when I get the chance to paint the other two rooms. Faux was pretty back then; it also worked well with our old plaster walls, I suppose. But now, no thanks.

Why not try Craigslist? It may be a better choice for selling tickets anyway. There are a lot of people who don't use Facebook, especially males, while Craigslist is a typical site many people go to when looking for tickets.

I'm of the ilk that you can post personal things on social media. However, since there is a sensitivity here I would find out what is ok to post once darling baby is here. I have many friends who put pics of themselves with the kids-and I love to see them-but you may want to check in with new mommy and daddy. Congrats!!
