Comments (2)Mfatt- we are using LED tape light too. We ordered 150 ft from Amazon and used some in the master bedroom, all told it was less than $150 for all the supplies. We have to do like your electrician, but I do not mind it, since we will end up with only 2 plugs hidden inside our cabinet. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M2PM17Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1...See Morehow does LED undercabinet lighting work with hard wires?
Comments (5)You will need a separate transformer at each location if you plan on connecting to the 120v hard lines. If possible, you can run the low voltage lines in the walls and eliminate the need for additional transformers. If you are still at a stage this is an option, it will save you a little bit of $$. Check the environmental lights website, their instruction guide details everything you will need....See MoreUndercabinet power strips with sockets & switches?
Comments (7)There really aren't "brands" of plugmold. That's a trade name like Kleenex that's taken hold. There is at least one other maker of enclosed power strip , but it doesn't have switches, ect. Task is the name, I think. Wiremold , owned by Legrand now, makes plugmold and i think still has a dual circuit version which might get you close to your goal. The only thing I know of meeting most of your requirements is a system from the German kitchen firm SieMatic. They make an aluminum system that is primarialy a lighting system. Choose halogen or LED puck lights or LED or fluorescent strips. Then you can add receptacles and switches to the thing as you see fit. It also has a slot for hanging backsplash accessories. 1. It is VERY expensive. $500 a foot for the base configuration. 2. The adds are priced each and are hundreds too. 3. It's proprietary , so don't bother shopping for it. 4. A dealer will likely not be interested in selling you just that lighting system. It is hard to see one at home. Many dealers don't show them. In the link, close the dialog box and scroll through the pics. The ninth and tenth ones show the system. Comments (8)Cat- we have both. I had our UC set at a 45 degree angle to make it easier to access. I chickened out a bit and have a few wall ones as well where I had light switches. In retrospect, I would have gone all UC except maybe the corner one for DHs coffee pot. The outlets feel secure. We haven't had any issues in 3 years. I can't answer on ease of replacement as no problems so far. As far as ease of use- I haven't had any problems using them. They need to meet code and this makes all of them a bit stiffer to use (wall and UC)I "jiggle" the plug a bit ( the same for the wall version) to push the plug in and out. My dad taught me as a kid - never yank a cord or plug out of an outlet. I have visions of friends not following this advise and ending up holding a handful of cord with the plug still in the outlet! Here is a link that shows some pictures UC plugmold...See MoreKaiser Electric
