I agree with a few people here. Its hard to choose. While it would be nice to have finer definitions of area whether by state or zone or what ever. I also like that when you post something it doesn't take several months to hear from someone else. It bothers me that you cannot post to other states forums. I would love to join into some of the exciting conversations that happen elsewhere that are relevant to me. It's kinda like everyone else has 'exclusive' memberships and we are open to the public. However, if things were to be divided I would probably want to hang out on the Delaware forum and lurk the MD forum. Being one of the people on the eastern shore I think the Delaware forum would have more in common with my garden. Ending my rambling I would like to say that I am glad that I have been 'stuck' with you all in the 'open to the public forum' as you are a wonderful bunch to be with. Lettssee

I'm in the process of buying my first home, and true, when I first started looking I browsed Zillow and Trulia, but quickly realized they're NOT the best source of info on houses. My realtor linked me to a private client site which updated with every single MLS that fit my criteria, and out of the search sites only Realtor had accurate information on the houses. Often listings on Zillow and Trulia are long gone and sold, and in the case of the house we're about to close on, it shows as off market on both sites. I even saw a listing to an amazing house at an amazing price and; as we usually did while house hunting, we sometimes drove by the house to see if it was worth it getting my Realtor to schedule a showing, or if the neighborhood was not something we even wanted to consider; when we drove by it the house did not even exist at that address.

"Overplant and thin later." I do not, and have not advocated that approach, but I see it is common in the industry. It would not be hard to imagine how this could come about. There is a receptive clientele that wants instant gratification. Plant sales generate income. Large budgets generate prestige. Etc.,, etc. In the town where I live we have a new, SMALL public park with a fountain at the center. I read in the local paper that the budget was about $440K. After studying the finished product I was practically horrified. The fountain is nice, but too noisy. The planting is absolutely, positively, overwhelmingly STUFFED with material. The space for walking is the pathways and plaza for the fountain. The green space is too full for anyone to enter. (At least there'll be some good hiding places for muggers in a few months!) They will be removing -- and throwing away -- material for the next 20 years. It's going to be a maintenance nightmare of trimming that a small town budget cannot afford. This is how politicians get glory by obtaining federal funds for their constituents. What a waste! Even though you don't live here, you probably paid a little each for our puny park. @ I pinkmountain ... I don't understand who you are saying is "hot and bothered" and who is making the "off-hand comment." ....??? Thus, not getting your point.
