Comments (5)The only thing that will stop rot in a cavity like that is the trees natural ability to wall off the infection. The bugs aren't adding to the issue. Even if you cleaned out the dead wood and filled the hole with some material, it won't help the tree....See MoreRiver Birch Tree Cavity Repair
Comments (7)The lit isn't mixed if you stick to the recent lit. There, the statement is to leave it be. Don't clean it out. Don't fill it. Don't "seal" it. Don't try to drain any water. Bottom line: the tree is best left to it's own devices. The other question which has been raised is whether or not this is a hazard tree. To settle that question, you should have several certified arborists out for a look see. And make certain those certified arborists are qualified to evaluate hazard trees. Look in the Yellow Pages under the heading of Trees or something similar. Companies with a certified arborist commonly say so in their ad....See MoreRotten trunk on banana tree
Comments (2)Chop the whole top of the tree of and keep cutting in off until you reach a point where you can no longer see any black inside. When I say cut it off, I mean actually take a saw and cut the trunk (pseudo stem) completely off toward the top and then you will be able to see all the separate rings that make up the trunk. The very center may show some black mush. Just keep on cutting slice by slice until you don't see the black mush anymore. If the corm has not rotted you will see new leaves emerge from the center and start growing normally again. I had to do this with my Ice Cream this year and it looks great now....See Morecavity cookie pans

I posted this one because there are reviews. One lady says that she used the sugar cookie recipe on the packaging. I bet it is a softer dough that you squish in. Was there nothing on the back of the wrapper? Here is a link that might be useful: cookie sheet...See More- 8 years ago
