Young avocado tree new to outdoors, browning

Mathieu Gingras

A couple of days ago I brought my 2 month old avocado tree outside. It had been growing inside, beside the windowsill without any problems.

Immediately, the leaves started to brown and are slowly curling. I live in zone 5a so I can't plant it in the ground. I'm using a potting soil and have added calcium and fertalized once. It rained the first evening that I left it out and soil is still saturated moist.

Should I bring the tree back inside? Or leave it? Or any other suggestions?

I believe I simply shocked it and probably burned it, not to mention that I cut the stem at the same time, 2 days ago. Of course now I realize I just did too much at the same time.

How can I unshock it?

I read in a post somewhere that it is good to add calcium, so I powdered some egg shells to fertalize it this way, which explains the white specks on the soil. However, I know this isn't causing any problems at this point because I did it yesterday.
