Refrigerators with icemaker inside refrigerator vs. freezer

We are remodeling the kitchen and about to buy appliances. We have decided that we want the unit to make ice. We are looking at counter-depth, french door/bottom freezer models. I don't need the ice to be dispensed through the door. However, it seems that the overwhelming majority of units these days have the icemaker in the fridge portion of the unit (instead of the freezer). Do these work ok? I have read mixed reviews, but my main concerns are...

1. ice won't stay cold enough and therefore will clump and potentially clog dispenser

2. food inside the fridge beside/behind the ice maker will actually get a little frosty

Would love to hear your experiences.

Thanks!
