Crazy neighboor...what to do?
Comments (29)"Well because the meat of the movie is usually accompanied by muffled dialogue and low level sounds. The guy is turning up the volume to hear the low levels accompanying the "important parts of the movie." Oh no,dont even go there. I can hear the entire story lie of the movie from where I'm at,and there isnt any dialouge except for moaning and screaming.I'am familar with these movies,I'm not a nun,and the kind he has are hardcore. "If this is about protecting your child and you are concerned you should not wait for a next time and you should not wait for your husband to talk to the rental company on Sunday. I assume you have a phone, why wait till Sunday?" because that is the only day he has off work and he is planning on going in the rental office and talking to the same guy we always talk to for the last 6 years we've been with this place. He is a friend and will give us the best advice on what to do. "Yes and he thinks youre a cop too, despite talking to you before." No,that was the FIRST time I met him.He knows I'm not a cop now! He remembers who I'am....See MoreNow we can do something about those loud TV ads.
Comments (28)Sorry this hit a nerve with some of you. Yes there are more significant issues to worry about. I look at it this way. The industry is already regulated in that the commercial isn't supposed to be louder than the loudest part of the TV program. All they have to do is tone it down- to the average decibel level of the program. If they are already monitoring the decibel level it might not be a big deal to continue to monitor it at a different level. There was a suggestion made that all we need to do to avoid the loud ads is to purchase a DVR and fast forward or use the remote to turn the volume down. Personally I don't find it very practical to sit there with a remote in my hand trying to avoid the commercials. My parents have enough trouble turning the TV on let alone utilizing a DVR and I'm sure they are not alone. It seems we are assaulted by noise everywhere we go. I don't find it unreasonable to try and control some of that cacophony in my own home....See MoreRequest of DVR Geeks....
Comments (10)Zee....if you don't mind checking out the cc feature on you DVR when not shown on the screen that would be great! as others noted how frustrating it is for those who can't hear programming, as well as, how "darn" loud the volume is for everyone else...I can relate 40 years worth! Now, I have a hard time hearing normal volume because I am so used to it being loud...trust me though...CC has been a life saver. We haven't enjoyed a night out to the movies in years because of this impairment, now it's beginning to affect "going out to eat". Sad, because we miss socializing with friends because of it. Even with state of the art digi hearing aids, FM transmitter for hearing impaired with blue tooth capabilities, this "silent" disorder can be crippling. He does however qualify for VA benefits because of it...I really feel he could possibly retire early and qualify for a ssi disability....See MoreAmazon Prime "A Very English Scandal"
Comments (32)I watched a movie with Rebel Wilson the other night called "Isn't It Romantic." It was a spoof on romantic comedies, albeit not a very good one. Part of the appeal of the movie would have been the leading lady's sarcastic jokes about work, dating and her life. But honestly, I could not understand her most of the time, it's like she didn't want to extend the effort to enunciate. I've watched other Australian movies and programs before and had no problems. My biggest problem with hearing is the sound seems to be uneven. To have it loud enough to hear some characters, others are too loud, and then the reverse. Regular tv with commercials is the worst. Unless you are constantly working the mute button, it's not fun. Fast paced comedies with a lot of word play are the worst. I love "Modern Family" but I can never seem to find the sweet spot in the volume for that one. What is "A Very English Scandal" about? I like Hugh Grant as an actor, although maybe not a guy I'd love to have a pint with down the pub. He is quite "mannered" in his delivery, but many good actors have that feature, not necessarily bad but he sure was typecast for many years . . . I never liked most of the stammering twits he played in those romantic movies . . . He's the perfect character in that movie "Small Time Crooks" with Woody Allen and Tracey Ullman. Now there's a Brit I never have trouble understanding no matter what dialect she is using . . ....See MoreLyban zone 4
