Duos, Trios and Groups for the Fourth of July
Comments (13)Rita, Thanks for bumping! I must have missed all the pics posted around the fourth as I didn't see these either. Posts were coming so quickly then as everyone had blooms that a post could go two pages in less than a day! These are all wonderful... I really like the clump shots the best, especially seeing what people choose to plant together. Citrix and Russian Easter are my two favorites of this group. I also really like the plateau grouping. I though of you when I was making my Maryotts order today... We have talked about climate differences on flowers... did you see the pictures of Pixie Paint Brush on their site? Doesn't even look close to the same flower! It was interesting for me to see a breeder that had fields in two different climates that was willing to post pics with such a radical difference. Looking forward to more wonderful pics when your rebloom really gets going! Julie...See MoreJuly, 2015 Quilting/Sewing goals
Comments (15)My July goals are to quilt and bind the restored View from the Cabin quilt that I gave to my neighbor several years ago. Her dog ate several huge holes in it; she "unquilted" the whole quilt; I repaired the top as best I could (being unable to find more matching fabric); and it's now glue basted and ready to re-quilt. I hope to finish my nephew's Winter Windows quilt top and get it off to the longarmer. I'm working on a Summer in the Park quilt with a jelly roll of marbled batiks that I got in a scrap bag and a piece of WOW that my friend gave me. I also have to go through a 12" high stack of patterns and magazines that this same friend gave me. Most of the patterns are for appliqués, which I don't often do, but the magazines have some interesting patterns in them. I'd also like to quilt the two lotto winnings quilt tops that I have pieced and get them into the "Done" pile....See MoreShow Us Your Gardens - A photo Thread - July 2015 Part II
Comments (39)Molie, I have a few white daylilies, but 'Light the Way' is really quite stunning. I also love 'Delia O'Brian Brown'. Steve, I can smell those lilies through the screen! And I'm sneezing! LOL! I really love the look of lilies, but I'm so allergic to them. Tried them for a couple years but just had too many issues. Then the beetles came.......then I really gave up. Will have to continue to enjoy your great photos! Isn't Marie's garden awesome?! I'm so glad Barb took pics while we were there. One of those gardens that is just so much fun to stroll around and find all the cool stuff planted. Such a wide variety. Claire, my viburnum was flowering beautifully, until they all started to turn brown, shrivel up and fall off. So no berries for me this year. I was just happy that the shrub appears to be OK. I was a little worried when the flowers were giving it up. I really like that carefree delight rose. Soooo pretty. Rooguchi clematis has been a blooming powerhouse for weeks. It doesn't show much sign of slowing down yet. Mohawk viburnum with its beautiful berry display. I love the way they change colors over time. Sorry for the blurry photo. I really need to ditch my point and shoot and go back to my D-SLR. But you get the idea. It's loaded with berries.....and the birds and critters never eat them. The daylily bed never disappoints. Delphiniums are now all cut down in cottage area. Hoping for a repeat bloom this fall....See MoreWeekend Journal 25-27 July 2015
Comments (7)We are having a heat wave. it's about 2pm and its 90 degrees in the shade. I have to remind myself that I am lucky I have AC and can run it at will. I'll be 75yo this week and I bought myself an electric guitar, the thing is, I don't know anything about music, let alone a guitar. But it is so good for my brain to learn something new, that I'll keep practicing. There are some super videos for beginner players on the net. DD and GS are coming on Saturday to help me celebrate my B-day. There is a method to my madness. When I'm done with the guitar, I'll give it to my GS. His dad is a great guitar player, so GS will have a good teacher. I have just about finished two guest rooms. I shopped mostly from our house, nothing fancy, but I hope our guests will be comfortable. DH has a very old car, the benefit is that it has very few computer features, so he can fix just about anything else. The other benefit is that the older the car, the less we pay in registration fees. We've saved a lot of money over the years. My favorite necklace broke, and I'm looking to make one with the beads I bought at an estate sale for $4.00, I have to go and buy some spacer beads, but I have everything else I'm looking for some cooler weather, LOL, rob, you asked....See MoreAnneCecilia z5 MI
