Big birdy babies

I took these photos Thursday, the 23rd. This shows one of the two nests that have seven chicks each. They are ready to fledge, but didn't make a sound or move a feather while I took their photo.

---

These two chicks are the youngest in the 12 nests. There were three eggs originally, but only two hatched.

Little Bit isn't as scrawny as he appears. They hatched a day apart. I'll try to get another photo of him tomorrow.

---

Proud parents. Male is on the left, female on right. Their chicks had fledged that day.

---

Some of the older birds flying around. Female, on gourd 2, is encouraging one of her chicks to come out. There's achick peeking out of gourd 3.

---

The fledgling trying to land on the hanging arm between gourds 3 and 4 has not learned to steer yet. He came in to land on the arm, undershot his target and was hanging by his chin. It takes them several days to get master flying, steering, and landing.

The "bird" on the curved arm above gourds 2 and 3 is a decoy.

---

With 24 parent birds, several unattached SY males, and 60 chicks, 10-12 of them already fledges; it's getting loud, fast, and furious around the rack. The evening show is awesome.
