I have never seen--nor heard of--a Leatherwing! Very cool. Here's a little Japanese Beetle romance. (They're a very romantic bunch.)

I heard some loud screeching this morning and Bud was laying in front of the patio door. There was a squirrel on the balcony, yelling at him. I've got a bowl of water in the flowerbed for the birds and squirrels (we're in a drought) but so far no one has taken advantage of attempt at kindness :-(

murraysmom - the sprinkler looks very similar to the creations of a craftsman that would sell them at Quailcrest Farm, Wooster, at their Spring or Fall arts and craft faires. He would bring quite a few and they would all sell out before the day was over. Last year and this Spring, Mom and I made the comment that we hadn't seen him at the faires. He was elderly, perhaps he retired. I am sorry I never purchased one all those years.
