I just looked and have 3 seeds left for the Devils Toothpick. If I remember right the crickets are still belching and farting from eating the plants that were outside. In the next week or so I'm hoping to get out and inventory the plants and get rid of the extras/doubles and see what I have growing then I can put the rest out. I've got almost all of my summer crop out there but I'm running out of room. Too many Manzanos are getting too big. The peppers are really liking the soil mix I'm using. If it still is ok when the 100 degree weeks start I'll have found the perfect mix for the way I grow my peppers. Only lost a dozen plants during the winter so I started out 150 or so plants ahead this year. Everything is looking like if I can keep the bugs at bay I'll have one of the better harvests I've had in a long time. Lots of buds and pods out there now. Re potted my Habanero tree(arbol)and it's as tall as the eves of the roof and filled with new branches.It's already 6+ ft. wide and 7-8ft. high.I'll need a ladder to pick pods again this year. I've got 3 more of them that want to do the same.Gotta find a home for 2 of them if I can. I wanted to mail them to people but it's too expensive. E mail me about what you have to trade and or what you are looking for. I'm up to 820 something varieties but don't have seeds for all of them to trade etc. If i can glue a few buds on each of my plants shut before they open I'll have a lot of seeds in mid summer and fall. I've got some rare stuff out there and if I can get the plants to put out the pods I'll be set up with seeds to spread around soon from the pods I have now. The Baccatums and Pubescens are really going off now.The Annuums are starting to bud too.

Maybe Jalapeno or a little more hotter not to bad. Northeast_chileman Ya that made me think it was a twilight numex, but I have that plant labeled and in another bed. Plus the unknown plants pods are much bigger than my numex and I only kept 1 numex seedling.

I am looking for another one with similar heat level as habs, but to be early and fast growing. Scotch Bonnet ? Red Fatalii ? &&&&&& How have I never grown scotch bonnets? I will have to correct that if I am able to grow a garden next year. Anyway, getting an early harvest is why I grow a lot of peppers in containers. Having them in containers makes it easy to bring them inside and overwinter them without having to dig them out of the ground. Doing that gives me a harvest a couple of months early. And I'm a bit prejudiced by my habanero love, I guess, but it have not found them to be slow growing. They are incredibly slow starting, so you have to start them very early. But that's not the same as slow growing. Once they get going, they grow really fast if conditions are good. And for an even earlier supply of habaneros . . . Well, that's why I am learning to preserve this year. Having a ton of dried and pickled, canned habaneros should do the trick. I hope. :) Angie

I've done a number of crosses over the years, mostly sweet and mild peppers. Most of the crosses I've made have ended up being tossed away because they're nothing special or unwanted characteristics came out of it. I made a sweet pepper that I shared seed from a few years ago called "Crunch Sweet Orange" that's a tall-growing, heavy yielding, super-sweet + fruity, 2-3" thick-walled sweet pepper. For a long time, creating this sweet pepper was my sole focus in breeding and I tried many different combinations before stumbling onto this keeper. I'm currently working on an Anahiem x Cubanelle cross that produces 6-8" pods that taper blunt-ended and are quite wide/fat. I had a Cubanelle that was my main focus because of it's flavor (though it was thin-walled and had little/no heat) and I've tried breeding it with various Anaheim types in order to find appropriate takes. It's currently a highly flavorful frying pepper with thick-ish flesh and Anahiem-like heat. It's not stable or uniform yet, though. It's going to take a few more years and my main issues are yield output and pod size rather than flavor at this point. I'm growing 3 lines off of it right now in order to get better characteristics and I may end up cross breeding a couple of the lines together to see if I can hasten/force some of the desired characteristics to come true to my vision.
