So what do we have here?
Comments (9)Possibly some kind of Tilia? Maybe Large-leaved Linden/Lime, T. platyphyllos. Did you see any kind of bract attached to the stem that holds the fruit? Also, how large is the fruit? The photo makes it look rather large, but perspective in photos can be deceiving....See MoreJust moved in, what do we have growing here?
Comments (1)A wild guess is Sutter's Gold, but it could easily be something else. I'll put a link below: Here is a link that might be useful: Sutter's Gold...See MoreIdentify this worm
Comments (19)"WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE! " I've been vermicomposting for awhile and have never Identified the creature I am culturing. I think I may have 3 or 4 different species. I have wild worms in my soil and bins. Hundreds of pounds of these worms have been transferred to other people, assuming they were EF without knowing for certain. Different worm species have different requirements when held captive. What kind of worms lurk in my yard and come into manure? Can I culture them? Can I set out 10 pots of horse manure in the winter, and dump into totes for instant worm bins? That is what difference it makes to me! I have very poor vision. My newly acquired camera has allowed me to stop the wiggle and zoom. For the first time I am having a good look. The only way to really find out will be to soak the different species in a shot of tequila and then look under magnification. Here is a pic of my new 'indoor' bins. The old horse water trough below and the blue tote of wild worms are on top covered in straw. Edit for a better pic . This is a place to ponder worms.
