Comments (17)A Gourd Story~ My wonderful neighbor grows beautiful gourds...among other things. She brought a few to me last winter to "spiffy up" a bit and use for the chick-a-dees and wrens to nest. I had great and wonderful ideas on sanding and painting them and making them so gorgeous that no chick-a-dee in their right mind could possibly pass them up. Well, until I got around to the "spiffy-ing up" I asked DH to store them in the tool shed...with hopes to soon make them adorable. So since it so unbeliveably hot and humid around here right now I thought this would be the perfect time to get started.....working indoors and staying nice and cool. I go to the tool shed this morning to get the gourds and work my magic....and lo and behold, it seems I waited too long to get this project under way. The tool shed mice evidently had other plans for the gourds.....they have nearly devoured two of them and are nesting in the others...LOL. Guess the chick-a-dees will have to wait for those new condos........ Lovely Chick-a-dee and Wren Condos (still in rough planning stage) Doesn't everyone have one of these..... .........
