Comments (16)Kitchen is similar to your first picture, but the refrigerator is where your wall ovens are planned. My dishwasher is in a position similar to your first picture. The counter to the left is a peninsula, and has two drawers for the silverware and serving/non-cooking utensils (cheese slicer, spreader, paring knives, ice cream scoop). Cabinets above hold the dishes, glassware, and mugs. The arrangement is outrageously convenient. The only things I can't out away while I'm standing by the dishwasher with the door open is a couple of things that go in the back corner. So, I take them out, close the door, and they are the last things put away. The prep, cooking, and serving things go on the other side, around the cooktop. With your refrigerator as shown, no, you will not be able to reach the cabinets above. if you leave the dishwasher in the corner, be sure you have room to open the DW door without hitting the knobs, and know if your DW will have a handle, or an inset handle, so you can open the drawer. (When I bought new knobs, I had to put two slightly diffferent, shorter, ones on the drawer and cabinet to the left of the DW so the door doesn't hit them. Only one person has ever noticed--and it wasn't DH lol!)...See MoreIs my dishwasher placement too tight?
Comments (29)So boss was adamant about the centering of the sink, so now I am thinking maybe we can board up the window on the side, and put a fridge there, this actually save me few grand too, since I dun have to redo the piping and such, and we have a window next to it since we are opening up the wall. Now I am down to two different design: Option 1 - Fridge closer to sink, but require a tall cabinet. Option 2 - Fridge further away, it look more natural. but longer walk to the sink (~11ft) @mama goose_gw zn6OH, benjesbride, do you think this is acceptable? Comments (10)Another vote for right beside, and I also prefer if it can be placed so it can be loaded from either side - that way if you have a lot of dishes more than one person can load. (For example, frequently after dinner one person is at the sink rinsing the stuff that needs it, while another person brings everything else in from the table and puts it directly into the dishwasher. Our dishwasher doesn’t need a lot of pre-rinsing, just a bit of a scrub on really stuck-on stuff, so this works well for us and gets the job done quicker.) Also then someone can be unloading the dishwasher even if someone else is doing food prep at the sink....See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
