I'm thinking of a black framed rectangular mirror for the wall above my dresser to modernize the look and tie in with the handles on the dresser and the black headboard. How wide and how long should I be looking for would a 2" frame look nice or should it be narrower? I also have a black dresser I could switch to. The dresser is 63" long x 38" high. The black dresser is 2" taller. The tree is gone felt it looked crowded.

Agree with Patricia, a mirror there is really not very useful, it won't work for putting on makeup or viewing yourself after dressing, put some pretty arched windows with a wreath or a framed print there. I'd opt for a large rectangular mirror attached to your closet door or one that can lean against the wall in the corner to the right of the closet door.

Dressers have a tendency to fall over and kill infants. I would guess this was an attempt to make it less top heavy.

I bought several pieces of reclaimed teak furniture from a wonderful local team of woodworkers. Most of the pieces have a natural, no-VOC, oil-based, clear finish...which is essential for me because I live with several illnesses that cause me to be chemically sensitive. Those pieces are wonderful and I have no problem with them. But...I took a risk and purchased a dresser (kinda like a highboy) that was darker in color due to a 'natural, no-VOC' stain. The owner didn't tell me specifically what brand of stain he used, but because he had been so trustworthy for all of my other transactions, I took the owner's word for it, that it wouldn't smell. Well, if I had known what was in the finish, I might not have bought it. I found out tonight (several weeks after I bought it) that the stain is Rubio Monocoat, which is either boiled or polymerized linseed oil. My new apartment runs very warm (75-80 on a sunny day in the winter in the SF Bay Area) and I'm concerned that the heat has caused the linseed oil finish to go rancid. I read online that it's not possible for polymerized oils to go rancid, but it smells *disgusting*. It smells like when I leave Canola Oil at room temperature in a hot (80-90+) summer kitchen for a few weeks... when I open that bottle it reeks. This was an expensive dresser so I'm sleepless in the SF Bay (now 4am). Someone who's helping me with arranging my furniture in the apartment noticed the strong smell too, so it's not just my chemical sensitivity. Should I just try my best to sell it or give it away? I'm desperate...the smell has been absorbed by my brand new, nontoxic, 100% cotton mattress from Naturepedic. I may have to throw out this brand new mattress, that's how bad the smell is in my bedroom. Thankfully I haven't moved in yet! My asthma gets triggered just spending a few hours there. Oy vey, what a disaster. So much for my no-VOC apartment (yes, prior to this problem, I had almost no VOCs in my apartment, by design). ☹️ Thanks in advance for any guidance you may have to offer!
