Help! Purchased new home, need to move mature plants

Hello all,

I had been renting, but now have purchased my own home (woo hoo). At my rental house I built a 4' x 8' plantar, filled with 12 inches of high quality soil. I now have 2 mature bell pepper, 1 mature jalapeno, 1 mature swiss chard, 1 mature zucchini, 3 mature tomatoes (2 heirloom, one beefeater) and a large watermelon plant.

I am wondering if I can successfully transplant these to my new home? I already have the bed built, again it's 4 x 8 in a partial sun and well-drained area, and I used potting soil to fill the bed. Is there any way to transplant mature plants? Was thinking of getting large pots, filling with soil, transplanting into the pots then immediately, after driving cross-town, to the bed. Woudl that work?

Thanks a ton !
