Comments (8)All micro drawers are made by Sharp regardless of the logo on front and none have convection oven features. I'm still not comprehending the math. A miele single oven + speed oven would be the same or less than two T'dor ovens incld. the 301. If you're saying that oven "x" is cheaper than a Miele single oven, I can grasp that - put it in the column. Now we're looking at the speed oven and I'm pretty sure the 301 is going to be the most expensive one out there so I'm having a hard time squaring the total column. I mean the cheapest Tdor single is $2500 +/- so you're looking at 6500 bucks total package. How much were you quoted on the Miele pair??? Even going top of the line you'd be looking at +500 for the miele pair, but get better functionality and reliability for less than 10%. T'dor ovens have had some issues and recalls recently. If you were willing to forgo some bells and whistles you could whittle a miele set to $5700-$5800. Calculations aside - the micro drawer is a nice bit of kit for undercounter. I thinks it's main drawback is most have motorized door opening and it's a bit slow for my tastes. Second I find it awkward for just warming up a cup of cocoa or tea. If you don't use a micro for tasks like that or are as impatient as my crowd , it becomes moot. $10k is a good budget for those four and you have plenty of options....See MoreWill have a range and wall oven, add a speed oven or microwave?
Comments (6)@plllog--thank you for the wonderful review of the Advantium. I have been considering one, but I don't want it in my oven stack since it won't match my non-GE oven selection. I don't care for any food that is microwaved and I believe the speed cook option combines microwave cooking with the other heating elements. Microwaved chicken (or leftover chicken for that matter) is one of the ickiest things in the world to eat IMO! If I need speed but the microwave won't do, I tend to reach for my convection toaster oven with great results--even for potatoes and casseroles. Not as fast as steam, but quicker than the large oven. @huruta--how do you like your CSO? I'm trying to decide on a double oven vs. single + CSO. My concern is crisping in the CSO and cleaning it since I don't believe they are self-cleaning. I'm thinking a 48" range top with grill and griddle, plus oven combo and microwave drawer since I can't say I'm that drawn to a convection microwave for the same reason I'm not drawn to the speed oven. Am I missing something on the speed oven? Or the CSO? Or a microwave drawer vs. a convection microwave? @oliverchang10--I also like the idea of both gas and electric. I've been cooking with a gas oven for years and find I prefer it to electric, but I keep hearing electric is more precise. Can you share your reasons for wanting both? Thanks to all for sharing your experiences and thoughts!...See MoreBosch speed oven 800 series
Comments (4)That's why I'm not looking at a convection microwave, as I don't find that they do a good job on French fries or roasted potatoes There is *no* difference between a convection microwave, and using the Bosch in convection mode. That is the difference between a speed oven and a convection microwave. A convection microwave can only do the convection and microwave separately. A speed oven can combine the two at the same time to cook faster. If you don't want to combine them, there is no point in buying a speed oven. I don't want to have to use microwave with the oven function, and I'm under the impression that the GE Advantium requires that? All speed ovens, including Bosch and the Advantium, can be used in 3 modes at minimum. Microwave only, convection only, and combination. The Advantium adds halogen lights that are used in the speed mode. The Bosch can broil as well....See MoreBarbarab
