Comments (24)Welcome to the 21st Century! Some thoughts on everyone's comments... 1. Real Names? That is just silly...usernames have to be unique...as soon as the 2nd John or Mary tried to use those as usernames there was a problem. And if they did allow it...there would be endless "Which John are you?" or "Which Mary said that?" 2. Creepy factor...yes at first it may be creepy to be able to Google yourself...but just how many people ACTUALLY GOOGLE YOU? Probably just you. 3. Protect yourself in all things techy AND NOT TECHY TOO... identity theft happens more when somebody goes through your trashcan than from the Internet. Or from people clicking on SPAM emails telling them about discount Viagra, their lottery winnings in Liberia, and how much girls in some third world country want to "meet you". FLorida actually has a site that will help you learn more about protecting yourself online: http://www.safeflorida.net/safesurf 4. Photos - be careful. Make sure there are no identifiers about where you live...house numbers, car license plates, etc. And no pics of minor children unless site is secure. And monitor your children too. 5 A. It's called Web 2.0 and YOU WERE TIME MAGAZINE; Person of the Year for 2006 ( http://www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,20061225,00.html) This wonderful year allows ALL OF US to participate and share our learning and opinions with the world. The world gets smaller every day because of it. 5 B. I graduated HS in 1981 and yesterday, my HS Principal became one of my FaceBook friends...what a wonderful world where that can happen...that I can tell him and others how they influenced the person I have become. As with anything...be safe AND enjoy! Tam the Nerd Here is a link that might be useful: SafeFlorida.Net...See MoreHeartbroken in Florida
Comments (26)No, I do not know the person who started this thread. And it's not about "liking" what you say. It's about the fact that alot of people come to these forums to vent and ask advice from un-biased people, and I don't understand why people have to respond so negatively. If you don't agree w/the post that is fine and your own choice, but stating your opinions so rudely isn't neccessary. I can feel for the OP because my sister in law is the same way w/my mom. She will do anything to be a b!+ch just cuz she likes to cause trouble, nothing my mom does is ever good enough...etc, etc. No one here knows these people personally enough to pass judgement. If she is in the same situation as MY mother then nothing she did at the hospital would've been good enough, the DIL STILL would've found something to compain and whine about. I just think that if someone disagrees w/a post it could be stated w/a little more compassion instead of making the person feel even worse. JMO...See MoreMy heart is heavy, I feel heartbroken
Comments (69)Thanks for bringing this thread back up to the front page, and for your sympathy and kind words. It's been over a month and I still miss her terribly. Her picture is still on my desktop on my computer and when I see it half of me wants to smile, the other half cry. :-) I've had alot of furkids/fursisters in my lifetime so I can only hope they're all keeping each other company now! Samkaren, I got your email but I've been so sick for the last 3 days this is the first I've really gotten on my computer. Thank you so much for sending me the note and for your nice thoughts....See MoreGoodbye, old friend. (I wasn't going to cry ...)
Comments (44)Reminds me of the neighborhood my Keebler Cottage was in. I love well cared for homes from that vintage. I drove by my former home several years again and was devastated to see that the exterior at least was not being maintained. I was literally sick and just cringed any time I thought about it. The garage (which had an attached in-law/quarters/studio) looked like you could blow it over. Drove by earlier this year and the current owner had torn down the garage and made some changes, but it looked loved. I hope they maintained the character on the interior. Butternut, you have a lot of work both done and undone on the new home, but you are going to make it your own. Just stay true to what you love and it will happen....See Morefig_insanity Z7b E TN
