Island Cruise
Comments (10)tampaart CONGRATS!!! St Maarten is one of my favorite Islands. So much to do and see! You have to sample foods and shops from both the French and Dutch sides. It is an absolutely beautiful place. I used to teach scuba diving and one of the perks was acting as the travel connection through the dive shop I worked with. Resorts and Travel agents would send me 2fers on trips to try new resorts. You just conjured up many wonderful memories! There used to be a hill top that had a huge billboard with the word "GOD" overlooking the ocean and underneath there were all kinds of signs recognizing different higher powers, we nicknamed it "Have a Godly Day Hill". on one of the side streets was a Muffler shop that wanted to be hip only they misspelled MIDAS...it was "MidAss Muffler"! It is such a colorful and friendly island. I am sure you will have a blast. Please take lots of pictures to share with us when you get back-unless you go to Ormond beach, please don't share pics we can't handle! lol Safe and happy travels to you and your family!...See MoreInfo on 4 different caribbean peppers? Comments (3)Hi again Sleepypoint, I have some techniques that I have used and thrown away, one of them was wrapping the individual blossom. Some people have a good deal of success with it. What I typically do is wrap the plant in some thule (think bridal veil material) when the plant just begins to flower. I only leave it on for a few days, then whatever fruit I get are isolated. Even if I do not get any fruit yet I will remove the thule for a day or so to let the plant breathe more freely and adjust the thule when I put it back on for the size of the plant. I found a higher incidence of mold and poor performance on the plants that I left the thule on for too long. As far as being open-pollinated, you do not need two plants of the same type. In fact, even if you just targeted which plants you wanted to isolate by when they were flowering you could just bring the plant inside, put it in a sunny, ventilated place, and allow it to flower and set fruit. Voila, isolated seed. Thanks for letting me know where you got the plants. I'm interested in checking them out. E-mail me if you get the chance. Mark...See MoreNeed advice: Overcoming a fear/phobia
Comments (23)I don't have any advice about overcoming your phobia that hasn't already been given here, but I wanted to chime in that there is no rhyme or reason to phobias, so it's not helpful for others to say "that phobia makes no sense". I have always had pet fish and I adore them. I have no trouble letting them nibble on my hand as I clean their tank, etc. I can swim in ponds with little fish darting around, and I have swum in the Gulf of Mexico with harmless sand sharks bumping around in clear view. But I am very unhappy about visiting aquariums where there is just a wall of glass between me and big fish. And (thank you, Diana Gabaldon) I am freaked out swimming in lakes because I am afraid of . . . the Loch Ness monster! Yes, I know it is ridiculous to be afraid that the Loch Ness monster is in a lake in the US. And even if the Loch Ness monster WAS in the lake, it's probably a harmless vegetarian and wouldn't bother me anyway. After all, I would PAY to swim with manatees, so why be leery of Nessy?Because knowing it is ridiculous intellectually isn't the same thing as not being filled with heart-pounding dread when you're at the lake!...See MoreHawaii or Carribean for Honeymoon
Comments (6)I'd have to go with Hawaii, especially the Big island (Hawaii). You can't beat the scenery, and if you don't like it, just drive 20 minutes and it will change. You've got your tropical rainforest, volcanos, desert, misty highlands (looks like Scotland or New Zealand), mountains (you can snow ski and scuba dive on the same day if you go in winter and plan it right), beaches, golf, snorkeling, scuba, surfing, parasailing, windsurfing, hiking, excellent shopping, horseback riding.... Check out the Luau at the Royal Kona resort- right on the ocean, couldn't be better. But I'll agree the flight is hard if limited on time. We went to San Francisco for 3 days (from East Coast) before heading out to Hawaii and it was well worth it. The flight back was LLLLOOOONNNNGGG!...See Morenicole___
