Older women and hair color?
Comments (43)The prettiest hair color I've seen is on a lady at my church: she has short black hair turning gray & as it gets more gray, she has a few strands all over dyed back blackish gray so it is such a beautiful & natural looking 'salt & pepper'(forget what the stylists call this procedure!) & she is able to keep it that way. Another lady has what I call the 'reverse Jay Leno': she had black hair that is all white now so she dyes it coal black & leaves a small portion in front the natural white color! Jay's is all naturally white now with a black wisp in the front... like a skunk I call it! I do think some persons have something similar that they were born with though. Many of our Native Americans here in the Southwest keep their long beautiful 'salt & pepper hair in beautiful braids or huge buns & nothing more beautiful than that natural beauty! A senior citizen that keeps her hair long, hanging loose down the back & dyed jet black (usually with the roots showing pure white!) ? ... uh, uh!!...See MoreWhat Perfumes are you wearing?
Comments (82)How does Lauder sell a single bottle of Youth Dew? I truly wonder. Have never heard one person say a kind word about the stuff...ever! When I was about thirteen years old, the lifeguard at our community pool, Chris, about 18, so cute, and my "buddy," came over to me and started whispering about some ladies who were visiting the pool that day. He said, "...and one of them has on a perfume that I know must be Youth Dew! Yick! It's the worst perfume in the world. My mother was given a bottle and she wore it once, but she never will again, because she hated it, and my dad and I told her to wash it off it smelled so bad!" I do love woodsy, exotic fragrances, which I think YD is trying to be, but it misses the mark somehow. Maybe it's just too much of a good thing...no nuance or subtlety?...See MoreSmelly perfumes
Comments (39)I switched to 'reduced risk' products with nicotine and haven't had a cigarette in 2 almost 3 months, in that time I've noticed that my sense of smell is returning and I no longer feel a need to practically bathe in perfume because there's no cigarette smoke smell on everything I wear anymore. Since the trend towards body sprays which have a lot of water and alcohol in them to fill the bottle along with a quarter being the actual scented stuff, people get used to whatever body spray they've got on a lot faster (in my experience) and if they can't smell it they think nobody else can either. The sprays are cheap in comparison to even eau de toilettes at the lower end of the department store fragrance counter and a good eau de parfume can price well beyond most shoppers' finances will allow them to afford. The sillage (how much area a particular fragrance will 'spread out' and almost follow the wearer) can be significant or a perfume can be more of a 'skin scent' which means you mostly can only smell it if you lift your wrist close to your nose or dip your head down close enough to your cleavage. I know that fragrance can bother a lot of people so now that I've quit smoking I've been working to be more conscientious about sticking with the 'skin scent' category and sparingly. It helps to be able to smell things again though. :P...See MoreToo strong perfume!
Comments (43)Oh I have a coworker in the hospital who, despite being told by others (including me) that he is overdoing it with the cologne, persists. Sometimes he might be standing in the hall and he can be smelled in a patient room! He obviously doesn't believe or care about possible problems for asthmatics and folks with COPD (a large portion of our patient population) from strong perfumes and his managers don't seem to notice. It is no different IMO from the smokers who stand in front of the entrance to the ED, despite the "no smoking" signs, and create a cloud of smoke that ill people must pass through....See MoreOlychick
