HELP!!!! What is going on with my succulents?!

It started out on my Kiwi plant then within 2 days it is randomly spread to several other succulents in my living wall garden. Does anyone have any idea what it is? I can't find any bugs so I'm afraid it may be a fungus, virus or bacteria. I am hoping it could be from lack of water and too much Sun!!! Someone please help I don't want to lose all my babies!!!!!

curiouser and curiouser-lots of people seem to be having similar problems with aeonium kiwi.

I'm using the original recipe with no modifications: 1 part pine bark, particle size less than 1/4" and greater than 1/16" 1 part Napa Floor Dry, particle size greater than 1/16" 1 part crushed granite, particle size between 1/4" and 1/16" Are you guys sure that the Sempervivum would survive outside? Our daily high temp has been 55 F and below, and many nights have seen freezing temperatures, strong winds, and frost. The temperature of the room that they're in is about 60 F. Also, I should note that the only part of the mix that was very slightly damp was next to the root mass of the Sempervivum which I bought in a container, so it's root mass is covered in water-retentive dirt (I cleaned as much off as I could before transplanting). That would probably explain the dampness in that area. The rest of the mix appears to be bone dry.

It's an Echeveria:). What species I don't really know. You are correct that plant definitely has meallybugs. I'm going to guess it's had them for a long time because of all the disfigured leaves. This is very typical from meallybugs. They will infest the center growth and then the plants leaves will have this weird waviness to them. The corking area is scarring. I've seen that happen also. An easy way to get rid of meallybugs is to use rubbing alcohol. With your plant you can get a little spray bottle and put the rubbing alcohol in it, then spray the plant. You can dilute with a little water if you'd like;). Keep out of direct sun while doing this treatment. It can cause your plant to burn. This also applies if you use Yates. Keep treating with rubbing alcohol until they're gone. Check once every 5-7 days. With each time you spray you should see less and less pests;). Eventually when they're gone repot in new mix. Clean the pot real good too. It's important to keep this plant away from other plants. They will spread. I hate them sooo much! Goodluck:). Here's an example of wavy leaves on one of my plants. Not as bad as yours, but I have seen Echeverias that look like yours.

Normal potting mix for a succulent generally retains too much moisture, and 50% coarse sand helps but probably does not tip the balance. If you do not want to hassle with creating your own mix from scratch, I would change the soil to 50% commercial "cactus mix" and 50% perlite. I prefer pumice to perlite since it is heavier and does not float. Since you have your own greenhouse, I am wondering do you have a lot of succulents, and are most of those in the same soil and thriving? Is there any chance the greenhouse becomes extremely humid or hot?

It really only seems to affect the succulents with similar leaf types which is making me think it must be a virus. It isn't actually rotting the plant but just the spots. I pulled any with signs of black or brown and set them aside; overnight no new black developed on the remaining succulents in the wall garden but it has continued to spread on the already affected. So strange, I also picked a couple that barly had any signs and I am trying a few things. I cleaned the leaves and stems with isopropyl alcohol and I have 3 experiments going on to see which works. I mixed some fresh soil and this guy seems to be plumping back up and the spots look to be developing a sort of callous on the damaged parts?

Can you rub off the dark stuff? If yes then I'm guessing it is fungal.

It does not rub off. I removed all my succulents mixed some fresh soil and I have my plants laying out. I just rubbed every one down with 50/50 alcohol/water solution with cotton balls and did surgery on the unsalvagable bits. The black parts seem to be turning brown and getting "crispy" then some are looking soft and squishy. A couple of my plants appear to have root rot so I cut them and I will let them dry for a week or so. Those plants however don't have any black spots yet. I am still at a loss but at least I can quarantine them easier now. After carefully inspecting every one of my plants I have yet to find a single bug. Here is my project for reference if that helps anyone with a diagnosis!
