A handful of July 4th blooms...

This is my first two-day weekend in yrs. Slept in too late to go get decent pics this morning. But it was worth it. These are just a few I managed to take around noon, when it was about 100 degrees.

BREATH OF LIFE CL - doing much better now that it's in the ground

DIGNITY - faded from the heat

GEMINI

GILBERT BECAUD

INK SPOTS - engulfed in salvias and crocosmias that have taken over this bed!

LEGEND - florist rose still a baby own root I got from Cliff a few yrs ago. Seems to like the heat.

MALICORNE - anxious to get this one in the ground to see what it does!

RED INTUITION - sun was so bright it was hard to get a good pic

ROSEMARY HARKNESS - recovering from the dig-up but happy to be back in the ground!

WINTER SUNSET - this was actually taken yesterday... it's now fried!

Beth, your roses are looking good. Dignity, Gemini and Red intuition are my favorites. Keep sharing! Right now the heat has gotten to my roses , I'm enjoying everyone else's.

newbie_in_nj, Those are the flowers of Sedum album. You may not want this one unless you don't mind it taking over. It would be a perfect one to take over a slope but not garden friendly. I've been ripping it out for years, but the smallest leaf to hit the soil (and many do fall while being ripped out) will start a whole new bunch of plants :O The snaps probably had 'Black Prince' as a parent, but couldn't tell you who the other parent might have been...the flower color is different on mine. I collected the seed from the campus I was a student on. These particular snaps seem to be the most hardy for me, but have had others winter over as well... just not as long :) I started some Snap 'Red and White' this year (not yet blooming) and these were one of the original parents of 'Black Prince'...so now I guess we're having a family reunion LOL!! Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics. Mary, and Happy 4th of July to you. I hope you get some help with your grass hopper invasison. Didn't know they could do that much damage. I am searching for some help with my earwigs. They have invaded my pots - 4-inch pots hanging from my deck rail in little holders. Don't know how they got there but they are doing a number on my petunias.

Thanks....a great follow-up to the actual fireworks shows this weekend! This show just last longer!! Happy 4th and as the Mom of a music major, I have heard that song a hundred times in concerts and exhibitions, and I still love it and love to hear it performed! I still get chills when I hear it, and did just that last night when it was part of the fireworks display! jan G.

wow.Loaves and Fishes is a bright and pretty one, today.it was going to be my favorite until I sen beautiful Edgings.its always a winner, and I though it has to be my favorite one, then up pops Westbourne Moms Curtain Ruffles , That one is gorgeous and I love it. and it would be my favorite until Early Shirley popped up and then Hawaiin Dancer again, so now I guess they are all my favorites since I can not pick just one.Love your Carnival in Brazil, too.Sure prettier then mine was. ust be all the rain you have gotten make them so pretty. jean

Gemini, of course, looks sensational - even in the heat! Your picture is so lovely!!! Red Inituition is such a pretty rose. Great pictures!

I can't believe how beautiful my GEMINI has become. It's in a bed above the area where I had to dig out roses for the leach lines. The bed had become so overgrown with several clumps of daylilies and irises, that the roses in there didn't bloom well, and some not at all for yrs. GEMINI is ecstatic to be free of all the clutter that was around it, and I can't believe how many gorgeous blooms it's been pumping out! Even it's color is better too. Now if I can just get the time to clean out all the other beds so other roses will perk up and do better too. I just have so little time....
