Several wild plants to ID in S.E. MI

Plant 1

Is this Circaea lutetiana or some other kind of nightshade?

Plant 2

Looks like morning glory but not round and seems way too big to be bindweed.

Plant 3

I'm never sure if I'm looking at a tree of heaven or sumac. Here are two different photos but probably the same species. Tree Photo 1

I don't know all those subspecies, Fatamorgana. We only have plain C sepium over here and I know it all too well ;-(

I can't explain in botanical terms why I don't think the OP's plant is C sepium. But it just looks different to me. For one thing the flower is more angular and appeared blush pink. The leaves are also angular. So I just said Calystegia species, rather than being more specific.

I checked several resources, and this does appear to be Miscanthus. Saccharum has a central inflorescence axis that is much longer than the branches. Its spikelets shed in pairs, along with joints of the inflorescence axis. Miscanthus has a central inflorescence axis that is shorter than the branches. well i took a closer look at the plant out the window.. meaning i put my nose on the window.. lol .. god forbid i walk out there ... lol ... it took me an hour to figure out what it is.. i was stuck on the plant that is a vine and a shrub .. whats that all about ... its the weedy honeysuckle shrub ... thank you mister bird .. or your feathery woman ... i mention these MI things because parker lives within 5 miles of me.. as the crow flies. .and he actually walks around and looks at plants.. so if i see it blooming ... he might look for it ... i also noted dames rocket is blooming at the edges of tree lines ... now go get some pix parker .. ken

the catalpa trees are blooming near raisin township hall on gady .. fyi ... 6 trees lining the road for a half mile ... cant mill them in bloom ... not when they have seed pods on them .... ken

Sumacs are Rhus species.

Your two sumacs are Rhus glabra. Smooth sumac.

The second photo shows Calystegia sepium subsp. appalachiana, which is sometimes called Appalachian Bindweed.

Thanks for that. I have C sepium on my allotment - total nightmare. I didn't think this one looked quite the same. Now I know why.

Thank you everyone. I have more to post, very soon. In the meantime, atlamol, how can you tell that the two sumacs are Rhus glabra?

Well, it's either glabra or typhina. Everything about typhina is "fuzzy" or "velvety" if you prefer, including the petioles of the leaves. Every feature on these two pictures is smooth and shiny.

Fatamorgana, Weakley's key lists six Calystegia species for North America.

Those species are divided into subspecies, when appropriate, in order to more thoroughly describe population characteristics.

For instance, C. sepium ssp. angulata and ssp. limnophila have white flowers. The other three C. sepium ssp. have pink flowers. Each subspecies name represents features that separate it from the others (type of pubescence, shape of leaves, etc.). So all five of these subspecies are C. sepium, and the ssp. designation just adds more information about that population's appearance.
