Comments (57)Wow, 55 posts - hope I'm not posting on the wrong thread again. I like the QOD's. For clothes, I don't have much now. I have one leopard-print top that I've worn to shreds. I don't feel stronger or faster, but I feel safe in it for some reason, like I can face people easier. When I was young and still had a good body, I had a few things that I felt great in. I had a matching raincoat and umbrella that was a fall print with leaves. I felt perfect in it, like everything was okay. I had some jackets that I felt safe and good in - one was purple velvet and one was a plaid beach jacket with big pockets. For shoes, I rarely have more than three wearable pair. Right now I have a pair of moccasins, a pair of black sandals, and a pair of those Hawaiian clogs, but most of the time I go barefoot, lol. For childhood cereals, my favorites were cream of wheat with brown sugar and cheerios, either dry or with milk and sugar. I liked sugar crisp, too, when it came out and back in the days when it was still okay to call something sugar crisp. For cartoons, my first attachment was to Mighty Mouse. I loved the way he was a puny little mouse, but could get strong and save people in trouble. Then I think I liked all the hero ones - The Lone Ranger, Superman, etc. I've been saying for awhile that I'd put up pictures of Second Life, the virtual reality world I'm playing in. I have a few on my blog now. It's at wwwjoy.agelessserenity.org, and I'll add the link below for anyone who might be curious. I'm permanently low-carbing now, though not as low as I probably should be. It is better for my fibromyalgia as well as for my weight. I recently got that new power chair I've been working on getting for a couple of years now, so I can get to the post office and the mini mall again, though I haven't tried it yet. Heather is still fine and as good and sweet as always. My son and granddaughters are planning to come and visit this summer. My son recently started working with a game company who makes a product called Realmcrafters. Seems like we are all into the virtual reality scene. Seems like people here are doing okay over all, and I'm glad for that. I know I miss a lot, but at least I come by and catch up. I'm into the Oprah presentations of Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth." Anyone here have ideas on that, and on the expectation that we are in a process of catalytic evolution? I had more, but lost it. At least I saved to this point, fortunately, as I couldn't write it all over, lol. I'm glad to see so many staying with it and new people coming on board, too. Take care and eat healthy! Comments (67)That is one amazing DIY. You guys are so clever and creative! That soapstone is killing me -- I'm trying to touch that incredible vein through my monitor. Now I have to ask -- what is on the other side of the kitchen, beyond your angled wall and little table-n-chairs set? It looks like more chairs. What's that room, if I may ask? I love your trash can in your island. I love all of the clever ways you added space...the soap pullout, the angled tray cabinet, etc. Brilliant! Congrats -- enjoy it!...See Morepaint is weeping two years later
Comments (14)Thanks for all the responses. I thought I'd get email alerts when a response came in but I didn't so I am just today reading all this. No smokers ever in the house. Yes, during the month we showered in there, we ran the fan but it still got so steamy the walls were nearly wet. The fan is not so powerful, I guess. Most of the bleed through occurs behind towels on the rack, but not excusively. The short wall by the exhaust fan has patches of this sticky seeping, too. I scrubbed those walls so much before painting the wife started fussing as she felt I spent too much time doing so. I do think all the paste was removed before I primed using Valspar high hiding primer. I guess it is what some of you postulated about this surfacant issue. I talked to the Lowes paint counter guy today before coming back here and he advised using "GARDZ DAMAGED DRYWALL SEALER" which is formulated to lock down paste on walls. Wish I had known of it before but maybe that isn't the difficulty. I will wash the offensive stickiness off the walls and until we ever use that bath again that may be enough. Just me and the wife here so it was rare that we used that room. I'm praying the master bath is OK as I just finished stripping wallpaper, priming with the Valspar high hiding forumula and two coats of Valspar signature paint. The Lowes guy said Valspar goes on thicker than Behr and he thinks I won't have this problem. Of course he sells Valspar and not Behr! Thanks for the ideas. I do appreciate it!...See MoreDry wall tape showing through 4 coats of paint
Comments (19)What paint/primer brand and type should I try? I see on Consumer Reports the Behr (Home Depot) Premium Plus Enamel is rated tops and great for for hiding (whatever hiding is). In the last house we had a similar issue with Behr semi gloss paint and the Kilz primer. Not sure if it was the same type of paint but I painted 2 coats of Kilz primer and several coats of semi-gloss white but it was not covering. I gave up after about 5 coats total. The rest of the house had semi gloss painted by the home manufacturer and it looked very nice and cleaned up great (kids). The one room I painted had the flat paint and the texture would come off the walls when you had to clean it. Current house has similar flat paint everywhere and we hate it but can't seem to get the coverage the home builder did in the last house with semi-gloss paints. we're about ready to give up, costs to much time and money to put on 5 coats and still not look good. I'm going to wait at leat a week or more before trying a new primer and paint. Wish me luck!...See MoreCrystal
