Determinate vs Indeterminate

so i understand the difference (somewhat) but what im trying to understand is does a determinate plant keep producing flowers/fruit or if it's a one-time thing where you get a certain amount of fruit and then a non productive plant?

from what i'm gathering, it seems rather waste of time to bother growing determinate plants. if one is worried about plant size, why not just get an indeterminate plant and prune to a certain size which will keep producing fruit? or are determinate plants designed for people who are lazy and don't like to prune and want only a couple of fruits? lol

because from what i've noticed i don't think i'll be growing determinate in the future.. i have two tomatoes plants, both planted at the same time.. the Indeterminate plant is 3 times the size of the determinate plant and has 3 times more tomatoes on it.

so why on earth would i grow determinate again?!?! ;)
