Are you quilting this weekend? June 8-10
Comments (20)I'm thinking about sitting down and starting to resew the pinwheel blocks. As you can tell, I'm still by the computer and not by the sewing machine! Dan, I just picked up the house 2 weekends ago and put all my quilty stuff where it should be. But, I need to do it again! I have some fabrics that found me since then and I need to put them away. My sewing area is looking more picked up since I finished the quilting part of a current project, so it is off the table. It is a wedding quilt. I have another one to do. I'm dragging my feet on it because the color pallets for both of these wedding quilts is similar - tan, brown, gray, gray-blue, blue. I must confess they just don't stir me. Has anyone seen some great ideas for using that color scheme? Karlene...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? July 26-28
Comments (17)Just got back in from the sit and sew... nearly 1:30 AM! I don't know what most other 29 year old guys do on Friday nights, but I doubt it's as much fun as I have quilting and chatting with a bunch of fun old ladies... My day before the sit and sew was just terrible... the carrot cake cookies turned out awful... the were flat and stuck to the the parchment paper, and then I knocked my beloved vintage food processor off the counter and the power button broke off... I'm so sad about it, but I've already been pricing the same model I had on Ebay... I threw the cookies out and went to Publix and bought a carrot cake to take instead! The lady who was driving arrived to pick me up and she even helped me carry my stuff out to her car (and I showed her the last batch of cookies that were still stuck to the cookie sheet and we had a laugh)... then we picked up the other lady and just had a fabulous time talking in the car... when we got to the sit and sew, there were 19 people there! Last week there was only about 7, so it was a much different experience, but we all squeezed in... there was so much food and we all made pigs of ourselves :o) I was even able to drink this time (they always have wine, but I never drink because I'm usually driving)... I decided I'd better hand sew if I was going to drink so that I didn't have to make a trip to he sewing machine repair shop again. I worked on the binding some more, but again, with all the talking and laughing, I only got about 4 stitches done once again. Someone noticed a stray dog come almost get hit by a car in front of the house and one of the ladies took it home with her for the night until they could try to locate the owner (it had a tag, but the tag only had the number of the vet and not the owner)... As we were leaving, we noticed a man walking down the street with a flashlight and asked him if he was looking for a dog and he was, so obviously it was the owner and he will get it back tomorrow...happy ending! Practically everybody who goes to the sit and sew is a nurse and they knew that's what I wanted to go to school for so one of the ladies gathered a bunch of nursing books to give me... very sweet... The ride home was nice as well and filled with even more fun conversation... I'd nearly forgotten about my poor food processor and those dreadful cookies by the time the night was over :o) Thanks about the pillow... Hope the weekend is great for everyone and that you all get a lot of sewing done. Btw, Donna, I was addicted to a few games too... I couldn't put down Draw Something for the longest time and I also like the hidden objects games. I can understand completely how time consuming becoming enraptured in those games can be.......See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Sept. 26-28
Comments (21)Wow, Donna, perfect piecing as usual! I've spent most of the week trying to repair one of my machines... The needle was grazing the hook and I nearly took it to the dealer.... turned out that the Organ needles were defective... I went back to Schmetz and everything was perfect ... just wish I'd realized that before I printed the 200 page service manual and took the thing apart... it's all back together now and working perfectly and I didn't have to drive an hour to the Brother dealer (good thing, they have just come out with a new series of very tempting models!). Working on a practice mini chevron quilt... matching the points is challenging... but it is a great feeling on the rare occasion they match perfectly on the first try! Have a great rest of the weekend :)...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Oct. 26-28
Comments (32)I was going to a friend's house for lunch today, so I quickly put a binding on a mug rug that I had made some time ago so I could take her a little something. But I think that is all the sewing I will accomplish. My quilt book from Amazon arrived, but didn't have any patterns that interested me for my DD's quilt. I'm waiting on someone to return a pattern book to the library. The fabrics are Asian prints and I may have to design the pattern myself. I really want to get started on it. A different DD and I are leaving Thursday for a few days vacation in Michigan and I would love to get started before we leave. Which reminds me I need to cut some more fabric to bring for hand piecing my Grandma's Garden quilt, so I may quilt some more tomorrow afterall. Enough rambling, I need to go to bed....See Moreloisflan
