Looking for info on Ficus Religiosa
Comments (5)They're also called Peepul trees, more often Bo trees, and a lot of people grow them from seed (very easy!) that you can get from a dozen online seed places (I've done it). Their care and feeding is quite similar to that of any other ficus, though they tend to be a bit more hot-housey when young and need a little more water and very good light. If you've heard they do badly, it might be from people trying to grow them like house (rubber) plants rather than bonsai, and not very knowledgably. Go to www.bonsaihunk.us/cultural.html and scroll down about 2/3 of the way to 'Ficus', where you'll find loads of terrific info. on growing ficus in general, and tropicals of any kind (from the top). There's really nothing very diff. about F. religiosa vs other ficus - they just need a little more attention and understanding at times and you won't likely find them for sale at Wal-Mart!...See More2 year old compost screened
Comments (41)Not much going on today so I went to city leaf pile for a few loads... Muddy in my dump zone so after I placed the drops above the other heating piles I then had to relocate them with the tractor... The smell is my comment right now. In trying to describe 8 year old leaves that have been 10 feet deep in a packed row my "smeller" was telling my brain it seemed almost a molasses smell with someone smoking aromatic cherry pipe tobacco nearby.... About 3 hours of shear delight.....See Morere-hanging old ceiling light, 2 switches, 8 wires
Comments (4)I would try looking at the wires running to the wall switches, to see if the colors match the ceiling wire colors. I would say the Red and white. You need a voltage probe or multimeter to see if the red is actually the HOT side (from a light switch when switched on). Looks like the light to the chandelier is also on a circuit that feeds other lights or outlets. I went through this a couple months ago, when I lost power to half my house due to old wiring at the fixture. Ran new cable to the light fixture, and connected it all back together again, it did take a couple trys to get it working....See More25 year old house-ground or neutral wire?
Comments (6)how many wires are up in the box, not counting the ones on the fixture itself? i wonder if you have an unmarked switchleg and accidently tied the hot switched white to the neutral. if there are 2 blacks inthe box, again OTHER than the one made on the light, then you could have this situation....See MoreJays Pizz
