A coworker scoped out Total Wine for me.... he looked at champagne in Magnum and double-Magnum sizes. You can get decent champagne in the double-magnum size for 180. I can't decide what to get my Dad for xmas.... he has everything ....he doesn't have a really cool looking bottle of wine. My fear is that I'll get some wine he doesn't like. I'll have goen for quantity not the quality. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to check it out myself in the red wines....

SOME INSTRUCTIONS I FOUND: A lighted wine bottle makes a unique gift and is a beautiful night light for any time of the year. You can leave the label on if the bottle was for a special occasion and write the date on the label or remove the label and apply Rub On Transfers as I have done on these bottles. Materials Needed: Wine bottle, washed Drill or drill press with 1/4� carbide bit Duct tape and electricians tape WD40 Miniature light string with 50 lights Wire cutter, wire stripper, twist wire caps Chartpak Rub On Transfers. (The ones I used: Sno Friends #CSL071 - Sea of Fish # CS145) Here's How: 1. Wash wine bottle and remove label. Place a piece of duct tape on the area to be drilled. 2. Drill slowly and spray the area you are drilling with WD40 to keep bottle from shattering. Rinse bottle to remove any glass particles. 3. Cut wire off light string about 3� from light closest to plug. Insert end off wire with plug through drilled hole and out top of bottle. 4. Strip cord from ends of wire about 1� and also from ends of wire with lights. Twist wires back together again and screw a twist wire cap on the wires to firmly secure and make connection. Stuff the lights into the bottle. You may need to use a dowel stick to distribute the lights evenly into the bottle. 6. Apply Rub On Transfers of your choice to decorate the bottle.

Groomingal, at the top right of the page, do a search for "memory jugs" - in the posts that come up, look for the one that is entitled "Big Brown Jug" and in here, posed by "Slowmedown" she posted a site about making Memory Jugs. It's gluing "memories" pics, small pieces, etc. onto a jug. And a recent post showed wine bottles placed upside down on a board to be hung-the bottles had the bottoms cut off and they were made into flower planters. Another idea, in the Craft & Decoration forum, look for "wine bottles with string lights in them" - they are beautiful. Here is a pic of mine, using an antique bottle with a bubble in it, inside which I have placed a birdsnest with two small birds on it. Sal Sal

I saw a page that took the large wine bottles and put paint in it and swirled it around the bottom half. A small solar light was then set in the top and at night when the light came on they marked the path. Beautiful. going to use glass paint and try the mirror glass paint too. I also thought of pushing the colored paper they use to cover baskets with, you know it comes in red, blue green etc. Ill try red to see if it looks like a flame. I love this stuff lol.
