I would plant two mangoes....This is called a backup plan. Make contact with your local mango nursery. Best to get it from them rather than via mail Ask what the selection is via email. Most nurseries cannot give an accurate account so best to visit in person or get the right guy/gal on the phone and take notes. There are small breed condo mangoes but any mango tree can be pruned to the size you desire. With one or two trees. that is hardly a burden. Most condo trees are slow growers which accounts for their dwarf tendencies. I might be semi-wrong on this I would get one polyembryonic mango and one monoembryonic. Most Thai/Viet/Indonesian are poly while the breeds of Indian origin (most you have heard of) are mono. Nam Doc Mam is the easy Thai poly choice and is fairly common and available. You can also get one 7 gallon mango to get fruit sooner and one 3 gallon. On the 7 beware of root bound and bark bound trees. Bark bound means imprisoned in its shape due to being potted for too long. Too woody and old and not enough green fresh growth. Fairchild says plant only three gallon. They like fresh young and green The feet of the mango is very important. The best is nice wide and thick at the bottom by the graft. Juices/water/fluids have an eight lane highway to cruise up and down your tree to be. But nice green and fresh overall can conquer this given time. Tall and stringy not good but can be conquered by topping off some inches which also promotes branching off, a good thing. Do not be jealous of those Florida people with their mango nurseries every half mile with so many diff breeds available. Your dry weather means less fungus. Spring rains in Fl promote fungus and mango fruiting failures. You will have to irrigate more but the upside is less or no diseases. I don't know if ever freezes where you are. Mature mango trees are more resistant to such threats. Perhaps your local mango nursery can give good advice.

I live about two hours north of you in Mendocino County, but I'm not sure how similar your weather is to ours. I have grown some of the tomatoes on your list. Stupice: great production all season; average taste (for an heirloom, that is). Brandywine, Sudduth's: poor production; wonderfully complex taste more than compensates. Kellogg's Breakfast: great production in mid-season; superb taste and amazing color. Cherokee Purple: perhaps the most popular heirloom up here; great production and taste. Riesentraube and Olena Ukrainian: spectacular plants, no disease problems, and great production and taste. Most of us--well, I at least--owe Carolyn a debt of gratitude for her book, which introduced us to these and other varieties.

Hi, A few things to consider: * What's your plan after the 9-10 months in the $1020 apartment? As in - why is it a short-term thing? If you then need to move again, it might not be the best idea (very stressful and can be expensive as you know). * How much is the storage going to cost you? If it's any more than the difference in cost between the two apartments, you're better off going for the more expensive apartment and not paying for storage. In the cheaper one, you have to either pay for or outsource your washing - how do you feel about that? I have lived in buildings with washers and dryers that rip and stain your clothes and are broken 90% of the time! We paid a dry cleaner to wash and fold each week. Not exactly the cheapest thing with towels, sheets, etc. I have just moved with my husband from a 350 sq ft apartment to 850sq ft, so 733 for one person seems plenty to me! - especially if it's temporary, even if you are used to bigger space. * Living with a family friend is okay but are you going to be comfortable? - will you feel like you have to always be "on show" if you know what I mean, always dressed nicely etc. - are you comfortable with them seeing you unwell, in your pyjamas, sweats, etc. - temporary is fine but that's the main thing for me - I want to relax when I'm at home or unwell and spend a day on the sofa if I have to. Are you comfortable doing that with this person around, and in their home? Best of luck with your decision-making! Overall, you have to be happy in your home. It should be a place you want to come home to! Personally - if that extra $90 a month is going to make you happy, I would go for the more expensive apartment :) But, only you will know what's best. It was hard to dig up to be honest. We finally got the one big root that was holding it in. We didn't break that one but lots of the small roots around it broke off. God I'm praying for doesn't die!
