Illicium floridanum 'Pink Frost'

User

Love the look of this relatively new cultivar. I planted six of them in a completely shaded, moist area and yet entire branches are wilting and dying, reminiscent of phythophora in Rhododendron. How can this be? Most plants susceptible to this type of root rot do better in average to dry soil conditions. Based on my experience and what I've read, Illicium floridanum flourishes in wet, shady conditions. Hmmm...
