Pump turning off...

Hey there.

My pump turns on and runs for about a minute then turns off for 2 or 3. Any ideas of what could be the problem?

The pump motor is failing. It is drawing too much current and overheating causing the breaker to trip (either electrically or internally). You will require at minimum a new pump motor, and often a new replacement pump altogether is easier though a little more money. Since you should be shopping for a new pump you should strongly consider a variable speed pump. It will pay for itself over and over again in electrical savings. This area is usually for pictures, so many people don't come here. However in my experience, if a Cal pump is magnetic, there can be two things wrong: 1. Impeller has a lot of gunk coating it and it has trouble keeping going. 2. The housing is cracked somewhere. Replacement for a Pondmaster housing is very inexpensive; about $14. If it is not a magnetic pump, I have no idea what it can be. Post your question in the regular section, not the gallery, and you might get the answers you need. Good luck.

Hi dean, What type of gas is being produced? What is the static pressure of the gas when the pump is idle? Maybe a valve timed to go on before the pump and long enough to purge the gas in the well would work. Certain controllers can handle both operations. JMHO Aloha

The outdoor unit should not run in regular heat mode or be in defrost when there is no longer a call for heat. Turning the t-stat to "off" will terminate the defrost cycle, but on another call for heat the unit may automatically go into defrost to melt the light ice/frost off the outdoor coils.

I'd say none of these. Are you sure the thermostst is being satisfied? It sounds more like the system is locking out after its been running for a while and when you remove the fuses you're disconnecting power which resets the lockout condition. Usually its either the high or low pressure switch the energizes the lockout relay. This is something thats almost impossible to diagnose without actually being there though. Good luck
