umm help trying to figure out if I bought what I needed
Comments (4)Welcome to the forum if this is your first posting. Very nice layout. Your choice for water flow is borderline for a falls that high. Refer to the pump flow chart either in the directions or on the Manufacturer's website. Figure every 10 feet of hose equals 1 foot of elevation when you begin to determine how much water is actually flowing out of the falls. Always use the next size hose for better flow. Always better to think there is too much than to think, "Oh I should have gotten the bigger pump". You can always divert the flow. Elbows also decrease efficiency. For a really nice display go for a 2x capacity even 3x. It is all a matter of taste and what effect you are trying to achieve. You can trip the water rushing down the falls with a bowling ball boulder at the bottom or force the turbulance down to the bottom of the pond to keep the layers of the water column moving and mixing. Add more rocks on the falls to change the tones. You'll have massive air exchange on the falls. The water will release CO2, and gain O2, thus helping keep a balance. That's a good thing for a well planted pond and any pond for that matter. -Philip...See MoreDone trying to figure it out..need general layout help
Comments (6)First, is the orientation of the sketch turned 90 degrees to the left from the picture of the space in the very first picture of this thread? Now other questions: Is the kitchen itself planned for the top section in the sketch/right section in the first picture? Is the addition the part with all the walls torn out in the first pictures (left section in the sketch)? If yes to the above two questions, does that mean the doors/windows are not being replaced in the kitchen area? If the above three questions :-) are "yes", what are the dimensions of each window/doorway/wall and the distances b/w each window/doorway/wall? You just have windows (W) & doorways (D) drawn in w/o dimensions of any kind for them and the walls around them. Is anything planned for the large space on the right and below the top section in the sketch? I'm sorry, but I think we need more information. Not only related to the questions above, but also other questions about how you plan to use the entire space, etc. Unfortunately, "general" ideas are often not very useful w/o all this information b/c when ideas are just thrown out there's no way to tell if they'll actually work in the space! The best way to do this is to get a detailed layout, post it here with other information (more on that in a moment), and have us work it through with you. I think you'll be much happier with the results in the end! Have you had a chance to read the "Layout Help" topic in the "Read Me" thread? It describes what information we need to help you find the best design for you and your family. (Once in the "Read Me" thread, scroll down to the "Layout Help" topic.) Good luck! Comments (11)Don't get me wrong, a solid argument can be made for any of these. But what I like about glue down vinyl plank is its wear-ability and repair-ability. Lets say you replace an appliance like a dishwasher and when it gets dragged out a sharp edge of the appliance gouges into the flooring right in the middle of the room. With sheet vinyl your faced with a tedious repair that will most likely be noticeable from that point on. (Live with it or replace it). With the laminate you can replace the affected piece, but it s in the middle of room. So to get to that piece you have to take half the room apart (and probably have to remove some quarter round from the base board) and it never seems to go back together quite like it was. (takes half a day if your lucky and hopefully looks and feels right after its put back together) With vinyl plank you can heat up the affected plank with a heat gun or hair dryer, peel up the bad plank, apply a little glue and lay down the replacement piece and your done. (10-15 minute job and you never know anything happened.) Vinyl plank is superior to sheet vinyl in repair-ability. Vinyl plank is superior to laminate in repair-ability and wet area performance. Again this is just my opinion....See MoreHelp! Trying to figure out what is going on with this plant.
Comments (7)I was just going to say it looks a lot like spider mite or tomato russet mite damage to me (always have a hard time telling them apart as I think I usually get hit with both at the same time). Depending on what type of mites you have, spraying with neem oil or a soapy spray may or may not help...but it's worth a try, as, at least in my garden, they spread like wildfire once they show up unless you can get it under control or pull the offending plants, bag them up and dispose of them away from your other plants....See MoreNessa K
