Mystery Hosta #9 Coming up
Comments (10)On the left of the Dew Drop is Platinum Tiara which is reverting back to Golden Scepter. The other hosta you named is not N E. I got N E in 2000 and it is also lost along with Northern Halo somewhere in my hosta gardens! I moved both them to another area and the metal tags were raked out. I'll accept the other name for the little one. Thanks for the help. Connie...See MoreCouple of mystery hostas - would like your shots in the dark
Comments (5)LOL Ken, I stuffed those in that spot late last year. It's not really a full-fledged garden, just an oak tree that was boring and homeless hostas that got paired up. In light of hosta safety from lawn mowers, I put the small eyes relatively close to the oak to avoid the mower blades. I can move them out if they get too crammed, but I kind of like the look of it with certain varieties. I typically plant now and create the garden later. So far, I've not received approval from hubby to put in a formal edging and make a "real" garden because of proximity to the neighbors. I suppose one way around it is to get rid of the grass and forego the edging, but I'd rather be working on grass removal in areas I won't have to perform that task again (areas I can edge). At the very least, I'll probably pull a few clumps of grass this spring, mulch with oak leaves and call it a day. It's a good thing you called me on the hosta abuse, they will thank you, Ken :-)...See More3 mystery blue hostas

Comments (19)dhaven---you are so nice to respond with such thorough information. Unfortunately, I have no idea where or when the plant came from. It's on the north side of my house and until recently in a rather jungle like area that my neighbor's really did not care about cutting back. So I think strangely enough that it may be before I bought the house some 30 years ago. I live in Milwaukee Wi. I have a couple of hostas on that side of the house that I don't remember planting. This one of them. When I began my venture into gardening, about 24 years ago, my focus was always on the other 3 sides of the house which didn't look like a jungle. The plant was very near an old hydrangea bush which may be original to this 1935 house....See Morembug_gw
