Help with range hood hunt

GW gurus:

I'm looking for a 36" wide, wall-mounted, chimney-style range hood. Baffle filters, not mesh.

Over on the Appliances forum, Kaz helpfully pointed out that we should focus on good coverage of the cooking area (hence 36" wide hood for 30" range, and looking for more than 20" deep).

Should be capable of at least 600 CFM, with multiple settings. Quieter is better, obviously. Would prefer mechanical button controls to more complex electronics (the boards on hoods seem to have a lot of problems, reading the reviews). Also prefer LED to halogen lights.

Price range is 400-700. Most of the hoods in that range are shallower (around 20") and smaller exhausts (usually 6").

E.g. one that has been recommended here and on the Appliances forum:

http://www.koberangehoods.com/product/ra9430sqb-1-2/

This is $713 at AJ Madison

Or the brillia:

http://www.koberangehoods.com/product/chx181-sqb-1/

This is $545 on Overstock.

We have 8" ducting that it will connect to, and one front higher-BTU burner, so I think it would make for better capture, performance, and lower sound for it to be deeper and utilize 8" ducting. And the Kobes are only 20" deep.

The only affordable/sorta recommended hoods I can find with 8" vertical ducting are the Cavaliere/ProLine (I think these are the same manufacturer).

E.g.

http://www.prolinerangehoods.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=32_46&products_id=513

But they are:

-Single blower (not sure if this is a negative?)

-Electronic touch controls

-Also only 20.5" deep

And there do seem to be a fair amount of poor reviews of their performance (esp electrical problems) and poor customer service.

Anyone have a recommended hood under $800 that is:

-22-24" deep

-36" wide

-600 CFM or more

-8" round vertical exhaust vent

-baffle filter

This Zephyr

http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajmadison/ZSIE36AS.html

might fit the bill but is a bit more expensive (not sure if its reputation for quality build and performance is better than Kobe -- likely better than the Proline/Cavaliere)

What were/are your priorities in choosing? What makes for better capture and lower noise? Width/depth? Duct size? Single/dual blower?

Thanks for any help/recs!
