Tomato & cuke garden issue & POLE bean issue too!

Hey, tomorrow is finally going to be planting day. Our neighbor's lovely evergreen/fir tree decided to shed a gazillion brown needles all over the garden. Some say it is like a mulch & won't hurt the plants. I don't want to take a chance cuz if they killed all my plants, I might have to take a chain saw to this monstrosity of a tree. (just kidding...) Thanks.

P.S. Pole beans have some brown on some of the leaves. Planted those almost a week ago. Some have some new leaves starting, but the big leaves have brown on them. I hope they don't die. Normally so hardy, but last night in Milwaukee, WI we had lots of wind, rain & very cool temps (41 maybe). Think they will rebound? Thanks again.
