"Foot Drop"

Has anyone else had this happen ? As a result of a badly pinched nerve in my back, I developed foot drop (or dropped foot) which is the condition that one's toes don't move into a raised position with each step, often causing tripping and very bad falls forward. I now have this on my left foot. It's caused by a failure of a nerve that controls certain muscles in the leg. I've consulted an orthopedist and a neurologist. They have both said that nerve renewal is possible (but I think not probable), and to go to physical therapy. Well, I'm therapies out. I have been exercising to the max. Yesterday, I went to the podiatrist, and she said that nerve regeneration is impossible, which was discouraging, to say the least. I wear a brace to prevent falls, but that presents problems, too. I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who's suffered with this problem.
