I am looking at the 6580 Miele oven (not the steam one) but am not planning on using the self-clean option. Even the people at the Miele store do a lot of manual cleaning and Not self clean. Does anyone forego this on the Miele Electric Convection and how's that going?

My oven was purchased when there was an option not to have self-clean. I decided I didn't feel comfortable with any appliance in a wood cabinet going above 600 degrees. And the previous oven with self-clean only cleaned the back and cooked the electronics. I run the cleaning cycle for the catalytic converter in the back every few months. Instructions are in the user manual. It cleans fairly easily. While it's still quite warm I wipe it out with a damp microfiber cloth (I wear insulated gloves). That keeps it fairly clean. The oven can be completely disassembled for cleaning. The door lifts off, the racks come out, etc. Those get wiped down with dish soap in the sink. For anything particularly stubborn I use Astonish, an English cleaning paste. That needs to be wiped off carefully, especially on the door but it does a good job and doesn't hurt the enamel or the glass.

We bought the Miele Combi Steam in addition to a 30" wall oven, and it is our "Go To" Oven. Use it daily. It is very versatile and being a smaller oven heats quickly. All of our baking dishes fit in this oven. It operates the same as our 30" wall oven plus the combi steam function. It is awesome for reheating leftovers/baking bread/used as a regular oven/steaming veggies- rice etc. The Miele has a broiler unlike the Wolf - not sure of your configuration but you might want to compare the Miele with the Wolf. There are several threads on these two products. Regardless of which oven - you will be happy going with a combi steam oven. Agree with the other posters that recommend you attend a demo at a Wolf/Miele design center if possible.

Hi Grace, I love my Poggenpohl kitchen!! I worked with Ellen Mclean at the 23rd street showroom i NYC and she was amazing. The design and craftmanship are outstanding.The kitchen both looks great and functions really well. I have the Segmento model with integrated refrigerator and dishwasher which I recommend.I have the Miele combi steam oven and the 30 inch convection. Both fantastic. I have the Master chef oven that has the rotisserie capability and have used that often. The auto roast function is well worth the oven-have made perfect roasts.I have gone to some cooking classes at the Miele Exoerience center and they are so helpful with information and recipes. I am so happy I went with the Miele appliances. I have the 36" wolf contemporary cooktop which is flush with counter- looks good in my kitchen island. If I can, I will post some photos.
