Rasing Cecropica caterpillers
Comments (5)I'm going to try rearing indoors as I dont have a food tree near me, I'm gathering scrub willows growing wild by a riverbank, I live near the Mississippi. Right now the cats are seciond instar and getting fatter by the daty, I really should transfur them to the larger critter cage but I still have monarch cats eating milkweed there, luckily these are getting very near pupation time, Is it okay to have the cecropica cats in with the monarch pupas or should I wait until the butterflies enclose? Also next spring when I release the moths should I do it in my backyard, we live in a neighborhood that has night lights, as most people do. Or should I try a wilder area so the adults dont go to the lights....See MoreGiant Silk Moths (Saturniids) in California

It's an amazing transformation! I ordered some luna moth eggs several weeks ago (they came from Alabama) to help boost the numbers around here - I haven't seen one all year. Now I've got 24 cocoons! 'Can't wait for them to emerge! Sherry...See MoreGiant Silk Moth Ranges
