I have Pale Oak. You are hard pressed to tell it is not white unless you put it up against white. It's a nice color but not a lot of personality. We teamed it with Cedar Key, which which I like a lot but would probably be considered tan so you might not want it.

What color is in your photo, room on right? I like it!

This is a long shot but maybe BM AF-AF 210 Milk and Honey or something a tad lighter. Here it is with Urban Nature in different lighting.

The milk and honey does look nice in those photos!! I'll take a look. The color on the wall on the right is urban nature lightened by about 25 %. I'm also interested in hearing about the full spectrum color stories paints.

BM Limestone is interesting- it's pale, but really shifts with the light. It reads green, yellow, cream, pale brown, to my eyes.

BM Green Earth looks very nice with the Urban Nature. Maybe too yellow.

These are great suggestions! I'm fairly certain Nantucket Gray would be too dark. We live in Minnesota and really want our rooms to feel lighter for those long winter months. Any thoughts on Tapestry Beige? How dark does Coastal Fog read? I've seen Manchester Tan up on my sister's wall and like the depth of that color.

Actually, the opposite is true. A deeper color is going to feel warmer and brighter in winter months and lighting, while light colors will feel cold and washed out.

For example, I live in NE, also a cold, snowy climate in winter. When I first bought my house, I painted the "winter living room" (LR used in winter, versus the porch used in the warm months) BM White Sand. It was blah and cold. I got cabin fever.

Last fall I repainted that room using BM Lenox Tan. What a transformation!!! I never wanted to leave the LR. NO cabin fever. It was warm and cozy and just wonderful (BM White Dove trim). The LRV of Nantucket Gray is very close to the LRV of Lenox Tan, so the light play would be similar. This is all especially true if the room you are painting doesn't get a lot of natural sunlight.

Thanks tibbrix. I know that is true, and do want to avoid pastel looking colors that will look washed out. But we are painting over very dark colors that were in the home when we purchased. The dining room was previously a deep, dark burgandy and the living room is a rich cocoa brown. So we want enough of a change to feel like the space is less heavy but do want to avoid something that looks pastel or off-white. So yes, I'm thinking a med color. I'll check out the Nantucket Gray. And yes, not a lot of natural sunlight even though a large picture window looks out onto 3 season porch.

I still feel like Nantcuket Gray is just one level darker than I want to go. What about Paris Rain, Camofluage, Gray Mirage or Coastal Fog as med tones that could work with the Urban Nature?

I put all of those next to your Urban Nature (beautiful green, btw!), and I like Paris Rain the best.

I used SW Naturel in my breakfast area, kitchen, and foyer. It seems to be a chameleon. It appeared to me to be a warm neutral beige...but no it rather has a very slight touch of green? But then again it looks a tad grey. No one seems to be able to nail exactly what it is but I love it!

BM Coastal Fog does not read dark, but it's, of course, subjective. I saw it at an open house and called back later to get the name of the color --- it's green, grey, beige.
