Back Painted Glass Backsplash
Comments (11)Full disclosure here, I work for a manufacturer that makes back-painted glass. Ours is specially formulated paint to adhere to glass and it's heat-cured for durability. It is sold through a network of glass shops across the country which helps in the installation. Costs depend on a few things: 1) glass thickness - 3mm to 25mm 2) does it need to be low-iron? Yes if you want to color match something else. 3) What sort of fabrication are you needing? Do you want a custom color match? Do you need cut-outs? They can water-jet cut outs for sinks, outlets, around windowsills, tc. as well as tempering for additional strength or special decorative edgework. Lots of choices and options. Cleanability: Super easy care. Windex is fine - and a single-sided razor blade for anything super dried on. Doesn't stain either,...so it's perfect for use as a dry erase board. But you MUST use a cutting board for countertops. Glass will scratch just like any other surface - it just shows a lot more. It is also possible to buff out tiny scratches using #0000 steel wool. Sealing with clear silicone any edges that are exposed to moisture (where a countertop meets a backsplash for example) is recommended to prevent moisture from being trapped behind the glass and destroying the mounting substrate....See MoreTook a break to have my baby :) now back to my backsplash
Comments (14)Well, I wonder if the colors are off on my camera. Because I definitely see what y'all mean about the beige tile looking a little pink in the picture. It doesn't read that way in real life though. So looking at this picture, would more of a gray be better or a beige. As you can see from an earlier picture the walls are a very light green and the lower paneling is a blue. I can play with the shade of the beige or gray once we choose which way to go....See MoreI'm back but no backsplash ... delayed once again!
Comments (16)I'm thrilled to hear so much positive feedback. I'm loving it and think its going to look great! chris45ny - that was the hardest tile to find to go with this glass tile. I'll be up and out in the morning to get the porcleain tile and the glass tile should be here by Monday. If anyone is interested in buying from glassoasis.com I highly suggest it. There are professional and delivery is fast, the woman on the phone made sure my order was going to be shipped out today. Pictures will be posted as soon as we start. DH is finishing off the sunroom. Final pictures to come......See Morewhat color to use for back painted backsplash in kitchen?
Comments (14)Do cabinets have a rose or taupe tone? Might as well have contrast - I liked the blue.... but what else is in the area? any elements that have a lot going on [like fp or rugs].... do you have much designed already? White would be ok if lots of contrasting window trim, etc.. is around... photos of the room/s?!...See Morecpartist
