It should not effect the color at all. I wouldn't even sand (unless it has been a few weeks). Just repaint that wall with the correct sized nap roller.

The smaller rollers hold less paint than larger ones, so you have to return to the paint bucket or pan more often. The larger the room, the longer it will take using the smaller roller. IMO, a small bathroom, a closet, or a single wall are the limits to the skinny rollers. I don't like them much because I try to maximize the paint on the roller and end up with drips. As a small woman, when I use a full-size roller, I use a 6 inch roller. The reduced weight and size give me more control.

We used Thorocoat. It worked very well and looks great. It comes smooth, or it can come with a medium or heavy grit finish. The sheen looks like a cement product so for us it was very appropriate for stucco. Here's what we did: powerwashed, filled all cracks with a high grade polyurethane caulk (we used one of the SIKA caulks), sealed the surface with a sealer product (Thoro used to have one called Thoroseal, but I think that product has changed and is no longer a sealer). and then applied the Thorocoat. The Thorocoat is thicker than normal paint. It was applied with a thick napped roller for smooth stucco and a large, thick paintbrush for textured stucco. I was told that the product will not peel off itself, rather, after a long time time, it wears off. I was told to expect to have to reapply a product in 20 years. I thought that was a pretty good lifespan. Hope that helps.

Thank you ranco22. I ended up going with a third coat. I was shocked, too, at the amount of paint it took. Soooo wished I'd used a primer first, as I did so on another area and the results were better. IMO, Benjamin Moore is totally misrepresenting their Aura Paint as being "self-priming," at least as far as painting on stucco goes. As a matter of fact, in all of the instances where I have used Aura, the results over a primer were superior to those without using a primer first. Two coats of Aura without a primer and I could still see the previous color through the paint, in addition to the little pin-holes in the finish. I don't have a spray gun, but I still have one large area of very rough stucco left to do and I will either have to get one, or get someone else to paint it who has one.
