X- Post. How often do you clean your Vent-a-Hood?
Comments (2)We grill under the hood quite a bit so the cleaning is a bit more often, about once a month I'd say. Yeah it's hard to put off the fun sometimes. But a couple of things I've picked up on. 409 works great. Remove the sheild under the blower housing and spray some into the squirrel cage; jog the motor, spray generously, turn off motor. The idea being to coat the wheels but not have the 409 just fly off.Be carefull though because it may drip onto the cooktop. I put some newspaper down first. Let it sit, maybe repeat. Then remove the housing but again be carefull as the 409 is sitting on the bottom now. Wipe it out with paper towels or into the dishwasher if you like. Remove the wheels if gunked up to badly and if your lucky they will clean off real nice with HOT water spray. I don't know why but my wheels used to be a PIA to clean but now they are easy. I use the 409 on the inside of the hood to. The stuff works good for me. Oh, a whole mess of paper towels. It's a bit of a proceedure that may not be for you but with repeated applications seems to go faster. I like my stuff clean, don't like the smell of grease in there, and expect some effort will be needed. Being double jointed seems to mke it all easier under the hood..)...See MoreCleaning Split Face Travertine
Comments (2)Did you contact the company you purchased the product from for more information? Personally, I would clean it with a hand-held steam cleaner too - but I'm not sure if your garment steamer has enough pressure to do the job like a small steam cleaner has, but certainly worth a try since you already have one. I'd also make sure to leave the bathroom vent on for at least 20-30 minutes after anyone takes a shower, which is going to help draw out the moisture in the room. Perhaps a higher grade of bathroom vent is in order. If that isn't in the "picture", you may benefit from taking shorter showers to reduce the amount of moisture in the room. Perhaps a well-placed fan to dry the air would help. -Grainlady...See Morex-post Cleaning Hand Scraped Hardwood Floors
Comments (4)I am getting hand scraped in the new house so I am curious too. I just assumed I would clean them the same as my hardwood floors in the home we just sold. I've always damp mopped them with just water and then when they dried I used the Bona hardwood floor cleaner and the Bona hardwood floor mop. I've been using it for years and never had any trouble. What did you hear negative about the product?...See MoreHow do you clean your hardwood kitchen floors? (X-posted on cleaning)
Comments (6)My hardwood floors are probably filthy, but look really good. I have them throughout the first floor. I sweep them daily, and run the occasional Swiffer WetJet on the kitchen portion of the floor in front of the sink, dishwasher and stove. I have tried a lot of things when mopping, and found that I prefer to use hot, HOT water and a damp rag mop once a month to get them really clean. I often have to refill the water, as it is black during this cleaning. Should probably do it more often, but I don't have the time....See Morearcy_gw
