Identification please.

I found these flowers yesterday growing in the woods. There are many native violets blooming now but I cannot find any flower that looks like this one. Is anyone familiar with it? I am in northwest Michigan. Thank you!

Someone told me it is a fringed polygala.

I love this spring beauty. I have a few far away in the woods growing near lots of poison ivy.

Hi Esther, No offset on mine yet. I am hoping it will make one this summer. There is a small plant in the pot too, but it is a completely separate plant. This one will keep making more leaves for years and eventually trail . It would be good in a hanging basket. It needs to be out of the way though, I don't want to bump into it!

I had a ZZ plant for about 7 years. Loved the glossy leaves, every year transplanted to a larger pot. It was probably 5-6 ft tall. Gave some away…very hardy. Then, over one winter it wept resin like sap all over our sunroom window and hardwood floor. It took a fast trip to the woods, and clean up was very difficult. Enjoy it, but watch for any weeping!

I think Diane nailed it with Lion's Fairy Tale. I just looked at all of the pics of it on HMF, and many (not all) showed the same unique substance to the petals that I noticed from your pics. Kudos to Diane for her great sleuthing :-D

Looks like the bark appearance changes as the tree ages. Mine is 17 years old max. Lots of variation given for height but this is another case of someone planting a tall tree too close to the house. Guess Im lucky the driveway hasnt lifted yet. Ugh!!
