Oops, I see that I incorrectly posted the same picture twice. Here is the third photo I meant to attach. I looked at some photos of the different types of myxomycetes (Slime Mold),and couldn't find anything that looked exactly like what I have, but it still could be. Any suggestions on how best to deal with slime mold (myxomycetes). I don't really want it around my house, even if it is not really harmful. How much worse can it get? Thanks

Its better to water the subsoil not the surface. Cut the bottoms off soda bottles and sink them upside down into the ground. Its a good idea to monitor RH levels, especially at night in the colder months when it can climb to 99%. Condensation encourages mold and will also cause things to rot and rust at an accelerated rate

I am at the same stage with our 26 ft dome. I used well seasoned oak and some pine to fill the bottom of the bed. Straw would break down too quickly . On top of that we put a layer of soil and compost left over from leveling the dome. Next was a layer of very well composted manure. Then a layer of topsoil from our property. It includes clay and some sand and has a nice structure, but is too dense to stand on its own, so I used some perlite,straws composted manure, and coir to amend the top layer. Imagine I will be dealing with weeds coming up for a while,but not too worried. More concerned with having a good soil that will support the same kind of things you mentioned. Seems the subject of soil is given very little attention by growing domes, yet it is the basis of all that we do in the dome!
