Mother's Day in the garden
Comments (16)Funny, but I really have never thought I looked that much like my mom. My younger sister is between my mom and me on the B&W shot, I think we resemble each other. I can see her in my DD as well. PM, Other than my dad and brother, all the other men found "excuses" not to come. At this time of the year field work is first and foremost on Rick's mind. The pots are new. They are from the same collection of several that I put by the front door. As for planting the front area, I have done quite a bit but everything is quite small so it doesn't look all that exciting. Thanks for the sweet comments. I believe this is the same container the last time I visited. I like this combo of plants as well....See MoreWednesday blooms in JUNE! :)

Comments (13)Yeah I agree with that. I have a few in the ground and they are much slower to come up. Some of them look like they got stepped on by someone so they are probably delayed even more now! But I have some other ones in a fantastic microclimate that are a foot tall and are outgrowing some bug damage (probably grasshoppers maybe slugs). Downside to growing them in pots is the constant water they need. I put the hose in each canna pot for about 2 minutes per pot and drench them every 3 days. It keeps salt from building up from fertilizer and keeps them moist since they love water when its hot outside. Looks like we have been missing out on a lot of this heat in our area lately but the end of the week looks very hot and humid! Good luck! -Alex...See MoreShots of the Day
Comments (20)Dave, Amalia was a limited offering from Naylor Creek when I purchased it three years ago at the high price of $20. Then it went out of production. Now days, you get a much larger plant at purchase. This year it emerged with four eyes. Amalia - year one...See Moresandyslopes z5 n. UT
