A dwarf iris at the edge of the front walk.

marcia, is that your corkscrew hazelnut???!!! Have heard of other corkscrew plants, but not hazelnut. Do you ever take cuttings?! I'd love to try to incorporate them into a basket... I love a challenge!

Despite a very late start to spring, it's so warm that the lilacs are opening early!

I can almost smell those Lilacs! Not in bloom here yet.

Love the corkscrew hazelnut. Daughter had 2 of them, but after 6 years, they died of 'filbert blight'. It is a real problem with the species in the northeast I hear.

I have been spending a lot of time outside trying to supervise DH's yard work, but did just finish this puzzle in my down time. A fun puzzle.

Party_music, it is my plant--commonly called Harry Lauder's walking stick, because of the twisted branches. Gazania, I hadn't heard of filbert blight. I'm sad to hear about yet one more disease affecting garden plants. I'll keep a look out for symptoms on my plant. I've had it over 15 years. Here it is in the snow in March 2008--it's much larger now.

I don't know if it's possible to get a small starter plant/tree of this particular tree...but it would make a wonderful Bonsai tree. It's gnarly, twisted branches would be ideal. Love the photos. It's such an interesting plant/tree.

I was going to post a picture of an iris bed in my yard that is abloom but I must have forgotten to copy it off the memory card.

So instead here is a leopard slug that was oozing around the barn the other night while the foal was being born.
