A rave for Jungle Jack's 'Divine'
Comments (80)Hi everyone...haven't been by for a few years... Life talking too much time but I still have my seedlings. Look what I missed...Wow, Jack has a devine jungle. Devine is devine & Miniwhite is a delight. I am amazed at the growth habit & symmetry! Wonderful plants...very tempting but I am crowded w my own seedlings & waiting for some of them to bloom. Checked out Christina as that's my name...Great plant named after JJ's wife... Wish you all much sucess & enjoyment in your jungles. My only possible dwarf obtusa seedling which grows about 2 inches a year which is 5 years old 3 gal & 13 inches was 4 branch but I rooted one branch 2 years ago now in 2 gal & it is now 6 inches tall. So I have 2 now for insurance....See MoreJungle Jack plumeria plants found in Oklahoma
Comments (58)I've been good Mike, how are you? My plants are doing ok, i suppose. Marjorie, is still the only plumeria blooming. I expected to have something on Penang Peach by now. My brug leaves aren't liking the heat so much, but they are all still blooming. I've got a noid brug that is putting out another flush of about 20, in this heat! Yea, I didn't really see anything that wowed me at home depot, but i thought maybe someone else would. I don't have much overwintering space, so anything that i buy has to be special. I'm really tempted to try and find one of the JJ Thai Jades that Kenny had the picture of. I'm trying to resist the urge, just not very successfully....See MoreJungle Jack's Plumeria at So. Comments (28)Honeypot yellow/white, tends to be a strong early bloomer with numerous clusters of 3"+ flowers. Can break as many as ten times after a bloom. Growth habit  medium with heavy branching Scent:: medium floral (to me it was buttery) Mini-White Nicely scented. For an idea of size, 4 year old mini-whites are only around 2-2.5 tall, with up to 70 tips, and an average of around 45-55. It will bloom every year, and sometimes grows as little as an inch before budding again. California Sunset JJ Thailand Penang Peach seedling. Vibrant color; good fragrance; thick petals, 2-4 inch flower. With heat, color changes to more pink/orange/yellow 15-20' tall, 12-15', fragrant white and pale yellow flowers semi-compact grower and an incredible bloomer, with a wonderful buttery scent and large clusters. Apricot-peach, yellow-colored flower, pale pink splash band on one side of the petal, medium pink line on the edge of the petal, nice texture, sweet medium scents. Pronounced hook on leaf ends. Slow to put out leaves. Whirlwind large clusters of 2-3" flowers on a well-formed, compact tree. Excellent early bloomer. Growth habit:: compact Scent:: medium The 'premium' ones could be anything, tho sometimes there's a name written on the stem. If nothing else, his plants absolutely love to bloom. I have several of his plants, and most have inflos on every tip. For those of you who can't get enough... Jungle Jack's Plumerias would like you to join us for our Annual Open House on July 10th in our Vista location. Comments (21)I just wanted to add that here in FL, JJ sells cuttings wholesale to commercial growers that pot them up in spring and then sell to places like Lowes. I could be wrong but I have assumed these were unrooted cuttings. When you think about it, from spring to mid-summer is not a lot of time for a brand new cutting, and by that time the plants are now on a truck getting driven around the state, getting slung around and then slung around again by the guy at Lowes and then handled even more by customers. I guess it work out OK in most cases, and the commercial growers don't want to keep the plants in their greenhouse for a year. However I think the customer might get a stronger plant, albeit one that most (present forum members excluded) aren't willing to pay a premium for :)...See Morekeilann
