Bush or vine cucumbers in trellis (is shade a problem?)

I have a approx. 4'x4' spot in my garden I wanted to plant cucumbers. I originally thought a few bush plants. But trellis seems to produce better so now I want to try that. However the spot is in the middle of the garden with beans and peppers to the east and potatoes to the west. Would I start the trellis on the ground at the east and slope up to the west, over 4ft horizontal, or go steeper slope over less horizontal slope and plant something else in the space? Will the shade from the plants on the trellis be a problem? My other option is put the trellis at the very west edge of my garden and slope up and out over my yard. Any advice? Also along the shade discussion which edge is it best to plant tomatoes on, the south or west or where? Thanks
