Pierce, just be aware that you will need a male holly for every 5-7 female plants to get berries. Because you will be planting tightly, you might be able to stretch it to one per 10 females. Most of the male forms I know of are shorter growing than the females, in general. You could get around this by using 1-gallon males and planting in the same hole as the females/'Nellie R.Stevens' as you space them out - they can grow up and be available, but are 'hidden' among the mass of the females. I know 15 gal. 'Nellie R. Stevens' are available, but can't speak as to price. While the 'Nellie R. Stevens' are a good hedge plant, if you wanted to mix in another type of tree, the Thuja 'Emerald Green' (a.k.a. 'Emerald Beauty' or 'Smaragd') is another good hedging plant, growing fairly fast to 12-15', and about 3-5' wide. You can fairly easily find 5 gallon plants, at about 4-6' tall - and pay more for them than 1 gal. - so they might be good where you want immediate height. While running bamboos will provide a solid screen once they are established, they will also RUN!! I have pulled out runners that are up to 8' long, and about 6" deep, in the spring. As long as you mow faithfully, you can keep them in check. However, even asphalt won't stop them from coming up - cement MIGHT! You can buy barriers, but you need to make a 3' deep trench for the barrier to be effective, and even then, you will probably have to watch for escapees over the top. Clumping bamboos are much better behaved, and will expand, but stay where you plant them.

Ok on that stud issue (if you do want the medicine cabinet) that's no biggie. If it's not a support wall they just cut out the area for the cabinet and basically build a frame out of 2x4's for it which connect the studs. So if you want that, now's the time (if it still looks as it does :) I had to do that in my powderroom which is typical construction, but the wall is a very small wall so it had more studs than normal (it has an angle off of the 2' straight area) Don't ya wish I had pictures LOL I sure do! My bathrooms are one step ahead of you right now. They're applying drywall as we speak. We're not only doing our powderroom (which was built new because we didn't have one on the main floor) but we're also doing every single room in the house, including a major gut of the kitchen. I don't have one room with drywall on every surface and I'm cooking in the garage :) We have a living area in the driveway. Sounds elegant huh? Actually the home will be when finished. I spent about a year on the design (it's a five level townhome so it's all interior work) and we have two magazines waiting to do spreads on it (mostly the kitchen) but right now...ugh it's ugly LOL And frankly so am I now that i think about it...I get dressed every day between the time I hear the first little pit a pat of tiny contractor feet on the front steps and the thud as they land on the top step :oP About 3 mins tops! You probably know the feeling if your bathroom looks like that! I love the glass door idea (obviously because I'm using it too LOL). I'm actually picking mine today. We'd planned on a typical solid core door and after building the new walls for the master bath, and looking at the tile for the shower, I was worried it would get too dark (my design is all chocolate, tan and white but the "chocolate" elements are very large...like the shower wall) We're on a lake and have huge windows filled with light just outside of the bathroom and I decided it would be best to get as much natural light as possible flooding the room, so the glass is the way to go. If it's quality, it will look great and still feel private. Do be sure to spend some money there because I looked at flimsy doors at the big box stores and they were visable through the "opaque" glass because the glass and the finish was so cheap. The difference is only a couple hundred bucks and it's money well spent. I think your bathroom is going to be so fabulous! I love the marble tub surround (and when I started reading and saw fake marble I had the same reaction as you did when you saw it). I'm doing an undermount tub (which you might consider) and would have loved to do a slab of marble but couldn't find one in a deep brown that would work. I'm also doing the same brown in the shower (walls) so I'd have had to buy quite a bit of marble. I can't imagine what my total would be! Tell me about the stepping stool? I'm doing a shelf out of the green piece (I had to buy the whole scrap and have about 2' on one side extra and a foot on the other, both about 3' long) I was going to have a bunch of coasters made up LOL but the stepping stool idea is nice....or even as a top on a tiny table next to the tub...Do you have any pictures heh heh

What a pretty room and home you have. I have to agree with everyone, the windows and view are fabulous. I don't agree, however, with a window bench. One thing I would do is pull the sectional back so that there is no rug coming out from underneath the sofas in the back. In other words, pull the sectional to the far corner of the rug (next to the glass top table). This will shift things over a bit and move the recliner out of the walking path. Visually, it will look better also. It's not that far in either direction, so it won't be too far from the television either. If you have radiant flooring, you probably won't be able to put in floor outlets. Moving the sectional to the rugs' edge will possible allow a table with lamp or floor lamp at the outlet on the large wall (closest outlet to your desk). I agree, a comfy chair and table with lamp in the far back corner would be perfect. Especially the lamp. Is there an outlet near the glass top table and chairs so that a floor lamp could be placed there? If you get three good lamps in the room, you'll be able to turn off the can lights for a relaxing evening. If you cannot do floor outlets, I might only do one sofa table (against sectional back facing kitchen). I can't tell how much space is actually there - would there be a decent walking path to the glass table? If so, something more hefty than the table you linked from CB2. Make sure it is not taller than the back of your sofa (minus the cushions that stick up). If open below, buy a couple of woven wicker baskets with lids to hide toys, games and/or colorful throws.

Jamal, do not be discouraged by remarks that might sound negative. It's not that anyone is trying to discourage you, but that in order to make progress, we have to address what we see, and we might not understand it. You've got a partially done project, and I don't think we understand where you're trying to go yet ... though I will say you definitely have the modern vibe going on and many things about seem pleasant ... so far. If you have a plan on paper or computer, I'd submit that first and foremost, as it has the be best chance of clarifying your direction. If you don't have that yet, accept 10 lashes for building before the plan was worked out, :-), and create one now -- hand drawn and reasonably accurate is OK, and show us what you're trying to accomplish. If you don't know where you're trying to go, say that, and let get it figured out. (We'll need more information from you.) We have one view now. Also, it would be good if you move to the right and show us another view, transverse to the first one, so that we can get a better idea of the space.
